Brembo Rotor Wear

Featured Replies

#1

I've read numerous threads about how poor brembo rotors are when it comes to wear.

Can anyone give me an idea on how quick they actually wear out?

Like do they last 12 months or 50,000k or what?

thanks

Usually depending on driver's braking the harder they brake quicker wear but anywhere between 35,000km-50,000kms

Yea 40-50,000kms sounds about right for a street car without regular hard stops.

Throw in a few track days and regular friday night blasts to 200 and I dare say youd be lucky to get 30,000kms out of a pair of fronts.

In saying that, you should be able to get them re-machined ONCE before they will be undersized, so technically, 70-80,000kms a rotor.

Track days will stuff them pretty quick. Pending what pads you have of course. I had mine replaced @15,000 odd. They did not want to machine them because one had a crack. Don't get drilled rotors.

50K would be a good run from an automatic car. I replaced mine with DBA 5000`s.

Slotted Brembo rotors are prone to crack under pressure.Replaced my fronts with DBA slotted rotors and Bendix Street , Road Track pads,

superior bite and less fade. Wore the OEM gear out in 40ks. $2500 replacement from fraud, be farked. Just the fronts that is :dontknow:

Just had my car serviced.

Its done 50500 klms and the dealer said I needs new pads and rotors all round.

The idiots want $3.5k - and aparently the rear brakes/discs are more expensive than the front 4 pot brmebo Dics/pads

Is there anywhere we can buy the discs direct from Brembo? Here or overseas?

Get DBA not brembo...

And as if the rears would wear out as quick as the fronts?

The dealer will be lieing if they think the rear rotors need replacing as they generally last over 100k km.

My front pads on the 6/4 Brembos were shagged on 16k km and the rotors were at the limit in my F6. This was after 2 track/drift days, but I sold the car before I needed the rotors replaced.

The GT-E is at about 60% worn at 19k km, so it is all dependant on the driver. I will be replacing mine with DBA's once they are done.
