no need to retune with a F6 cooler, has been tried and tested by alot of people, including myself.

The F6 cooler is a bigger version of the standard cooler, and no more efficient when it comes to flow... it may reject a bit more heat, but your not going to notice any difference in power

The Blow off is probably quieter as you have introduced more bigger pressure drop into the setup.

A decent aftermarket cooler will reduce pressure drop and have better flow. hence why you need a re-tune...

F6 cooler should actually flow better, its higher and has more bars across, meaning more air passages and less resistance against charge air flow, reducing air speed.

Unless theres something internally different or its skinnier :dontknow:

Anybody out there ? I’m trying to do this today on my 2007 mk II xr6t  and am stuck big time , I can’t get the f6 intercooler into place with either standard brackets or the typhoon brackets that came with the cooler , seems the f6 cooler

is roughly 1 inch wider and has the scensor thing for the gauge , any suggestions as to what order I should be doing the cooler and brackets as I’m buggered , been trying for 2 hours since removing old

cooler and nowhere near success yet , please help ??

You need to use the F6 brackets.   It's a straight swap. It will all line up and then you will see you need to to drill one hole

I gather you have the bumper and front of the car removed

Thanks heaps Arronm , yes everything off the car so it’s exposed as much as possible , do I attach brackets to car then try install the cooler , or attach brackets to the cooler first ?

also , do you know what side I should expect to have to drill a hole ?

thanks heaps for getting back to me , at least now I can push forward with the typhoon brackets ??

I can't remember.  It was more than 10 years ago.

Assemble both with brackets put side by side. Then work it out

The F6 cooler goes straight in. Unbolt the old one at the bumper leaving the brackets on, unbolt the brackets if necessary for the space. The F6 cooler slides in with a bit of effort then bolts into the same holes on the bumper.

Edit: have a look at my post here:
