Just bought my first XR6T...heres a link to my hello thread:

http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/48918-the-newbie-thread/page__view__findpost__p__1064687

Now this ute is totally standard, owned by an older fellow and has probably never gotten anywhere near redline.

Its done 99250kms. I test drove it obviously, but had the owner beside me so couldnt really cut loose. It felt smooth, responsive and willing.

Now theres a couple of places here in Auckland offering a stage one tune and flash giving around 280-300kw (flywheel) but I'll get the exhaust delt to before I do this. (anyone make a recommendation for exhausts in auckland?).

What I'd like to know is whether there is anything I should check or have renewed before layering in the first stage mods?

Thanks all!

Adam

Replace the cat on the exhaust and leave it at that. Injectors valve springs and fuel pump should see you in the high 200's/ low 300's. . Saying that you'd want to strengthing your transmission as it won't last long at that power.

Thanks Brods...I'll look into a high flow cat.

Is there a part number for suitable valve spring replacements?

I'd also really like the part no. for the replacement CAI snorkel that I read about in one of the posts here (The F6 typhoon 2nd snorkel???)

crow or atomic valve springs are good, think I got my atomics from hiro performance (site sponsor)

and yes if you plan to keep the factory airbox and piping the f6 snorkle is the way to go.

sorry as for a part number for the snorlke im not sure, can try ford parts they will know what your talking about (probably a rip off though) I got mine second from the classifieds forum

Anyone have a picture of the F6 snorkel mod...just so I know what the part looks like. I can just imagine the blank looks on the faces of the guys at my local ford dealership whebn I walk in there asking for one of these :)

Mate, just had my bf tuned by Robin at torque performance-

Just lose the cat altogether, replace with a length of 3" pipe- cats not compulsory pre 09 in NZ.

I replaced my center muffler with a pair of 2 1/2"cobys, this will support way more power than a 4 speed will happily deal with.

Hey Hawless

Sounds/looks great! Thanks for the advice. How do you find Torque Performance to deal with? I was planning to go see Eastern Automotive.

That should help. Ask for a BF XR8 lower snorkel from your local dealers
