thanks rab. yeah im in sydney and it seems cars here are being sold at a higher price compared to other states. I just had a look at discountnewcars.com.au and those extras he quoted were being done on the standard price and the whole time he kept going on about the money he was saving me

I guess my next question is how does one bargain the price down with those extras (and possibly more on top)?

my only concern is that the 50th anniversary is a limited release and read somewhere here that dealers have bought/vouched for the majority already. I really have my heart set on a xr6 turbo anniversary model but I'd also like to knock down the price if I can

Id push a bit harder. Why is it any difference from state to state. Have you spoken to other dealers

Mate jump on carsales and do some phoning around.

Tell them exactly what you want and what you want to pay drive away and see who wants to deal.

I just phoned around ! and for the price of a flight, I'd do a deal anywhere up here for 4k less and enjoy the nice drive home with 4k saving in my pocket ! :buttrock:

As Zap said, get some quotes. It cost sweet FA to fly to bris or any captial city these days. Its the start of the month too. And they just came off the best September figures they have had for a long time. I would get a handful of quotes and say match it or I'm gone. There is more cars for sale than buyers always. Never go in thinking you need to buy the car. THEY HAVE TO SELL IT TOO YOU. Make them. So show them the quotes and walk. They will ring you. They always do.

Ps make sure you shake hands with the sales manager. He is the shmuck that gets up the sales staff every day. Or try to get a look at their sales/delievery board and say things like wow quite month. Such and suches was chockers

yeah I have and I think I've been going about it the wrong way. but just going from the prices off carsales, interstate seems a few thousand cheaper compared to NSW

I still have to visit a few dealers, so far only been to two and prices are very similar. looks like I still have more to visit

yea QLD and VIC seem to be far cheaper than NSW. WA would be next in line. im considering going interstate but will have to make a holiday out of it and maybe stay a week to see whos got the best deal. I also don't know if they can transfer rego to NSW or if I'd have to do this myself

thanks Zap, you're advice is invaluable and was exactly what I was after. will see how I go with local dealers and if that isn't good enough will consider interstate

When I go to get my F6 or GS I think I will be showing them prices from QLD yards and asking them to match. With the difference between WA and QLD prices for F6s at the moment, it would still be cheaper for me to fly over, fly back and have them transport the car over.

just got back from another dealer and she tried to tell me that the XR6 Turbo 50th anniversary models don't come with any additional factory options?

e.g. reverse camera would be 'aftermarket' fitted by them rather than fitted at the factory? I was stunned thinking WTF? these aren't any different from normal xr6 turbos apart from being 50th

could it be that they pre-ordered a bunch of xr6t 50th in certain colours with no additional options from ford and it's too late to change their order now or is it true that ford are only doing the xr6 turbo 50th with no additional options that are normally available for the xr6 turbo range?

can't be true, right?
