Overboost Easy Fix

Sup, got this idea after talking to dave from mackay about overboosting and some easy ways to fix it. He reccomended a wastegate right before the throttlebody set at whatever psi you desire. This would be ok, I have a 50mm turbosmart gate off the Pigma sitting around but it would be hell heavy and a pain in the ass to fit etc.

Then I found these on eBay...

I'd be more inclined to use the 16.7 one for my application. Also the smaller 1/8npt inlet would work better.

If I was to screw this into my rapid intake pipe right near the throttlebody, would it work how I want it to?

I should also note, I went to a few shops like blackwoods etc. All they had was ones for air compressors at a hefty price of around $300 up to $600 for adjustable ones....

A $100 ebay wastegate would do the job fine, but I don't want something big and ugly sitting there. With a small relief valve I can hide it under the pipework. 1 less thing for the cops to try and ping me for..

i doubt they would flow enough air to prevent an over boost mate. Its only 13mm ID

So what about a 1/2" one?

You can get them in many sizes. Up to 1" ID

best fix..aftermarket boost controller hey... amount of mucking around to fit and then you got issues with epa requirments and dumb cops thinking its a bov

Is the overboost happening all the time or on gear changes (6sp auto) or just for your own insurance in case it does happen?

Didn't Dave mention the boost fuse by Go Fast Bits (GFB) as this has worked well for me the one time I needed it. They are $200 though but cheap insurance!

If its for gear changes then the boost fuse isn't the go as once it is triggered it feels like it stays open until vacuum is applied and naturally a big loss of power also follows!

Jeri, I know you have the 12psi actuator, but have you had the wastegate and larger flapper fitted, Im guessing so with the larger dump?

Nah haven't done that, and I know I should. But imo if I can fix it with $100 its better than $1000.... Gotta stop spending money on the daily haha.
