My First Breakdown :(

Well it was bound to happen eventually, not many people have the pleasure of going through theres cars life without a breadown and I am no exception. Haha

Was driving on the highway coming home from a car show, and had just overtaken a car (traffic I hate it) then cruisin again I lost all power all acceleration and was idling like a certain female body part. Tried to give it a rev but just died out completely. So a tow truck was called and arrived 1 and a half hours later.

The next day comes and I thought I might try and fix the problem myself. Seeing as previously she had been missing at around 4G's in 3rd and 4th gear I bought some new coils and installed them. To no avail, trying to start the car it took a good 10 seconds to kick over then sounds like it was on 4 cyl, after a minute was idling rough but ok. Took her for a drive, tried to give it a squirt but died in the arse again, only would run smoothish on 1/4 throttle.

Next thought fuel filter, so I buy and install new filter, and guess what it still run like sh*t. So off to the mechanic she's gone. He seems to think it could be a dead fuel pump or a inlet manifold gasket. I just hope its not going to cost me a fortune cause my tax money is ment to be for extra performance parts and not for a repair bill.

Only time will tell, for now I leave my pride and joy in the hands of the gods, unable to comfort her and unknowing of whats to come.

Although if they say its something stuffed internally that means I can beef her up with some noice forged bits and pump her up big time. Hahaha

If the pumps rooted, a great time to do the pump upgrade/ surge tank thang!

Sounds like a good idea, but it already had a walbro gs340 put in it, and it turns out that it wasnt put in very well. The outlet hose from the pump itself wasnt put on properly and done up too tight, it split and came off, hence the 20bar of pressure at idle instead of 60. hahahaha god damn that mechanic ill have to sake him, oh right it was me, hahaha

But at least it wasnt a big bill only labour costs so all is good, now more money for fast bits. :rl:

Ummmm our fords run MAX 60psi of fuel pressure,(4 bar) if you where running 20bar at idle (294 psi) you would have some major rich running issues.....

Its pretty common for pumps to get change and the line replaced with non submersible hose, and the exact issues your describing occurs.

If you didnt already replace your hose with Gates PN 4219-5184, 5/16"x1"

Sounds like a vacumn leak to me...

Interesting thoughts guys, the vacuum leak was checked but no leaks seen or heard, the dude showed me the fuel hose that was pulled out, damn thing was nearly split from one end to the other.

Back on the road now and going like a bat outta hell, and whether it was the coils or the fuel line, there is no cut out at 4 grand in 3rd, 4th or 5th so im happy as larry.

Although the $100 per hour sevice fee wasnt the nicest thing to see on paper, but in a town with 2 performance shop wat can ya do.

Now for that left over money, wat to do wat to do.
