Premium Sound - How Good Is It

I heard 11 speakers also.

My car was based on Premium sound. If the one I found didn't have it, then I would not have purchased that vehicle. I would have ordered one instead. You can't add aftermarket CD stackers to the standard system.

Thanks Ninka, I'm supprised that Ford actually installed 3 way speakers in the rear, car company's normally use full range speakers in the rear, like my AU Fairmont has, I cant wait to get mine so I can have a listen.

I wouldn't know if there is 11, 13 or a a 100000 speakers, but it sounds awesome.

I'd suggest the colour TFT and 6 stck is worth it alone. IMO the stock IC is very soft! :(

Lets see,

There are two way speakers in the doors and parcel shelf, a sub and tweeters in the A pillars so that makes 11. l think Lionheart meant 11 not 13.

Either way it sounds great for factory audio.

I am pretty disapointed with the so called Premium sound in my XR6T, I had pretty much the same setup in my previous car (aftermarket Pioneer) and there is just no comparison - diamonds to dogsh*t as someone else said already; the dogsh*t being the Premium sound. I would rather not have the colour screen and have more/better quality sound. As soon as I sell my old car I will be visiting the car stereo shop to see what can be done to enhance the sound (I know the head unit can't be replaced, maybe change/add some amps and change the speakers). I don't want to win any sound-off comps just want better and louder sound.

After looking through the owners manual last night I'm not even sure that I have Premium sound (I paid extra $900 so I better have:angry: ).. On page 75 it shows a "regular" six stack unit (which looks like what I have) and then on the next page it displays a pic of the Premium/Prestige system whic is different to mine! I have the tweeters in the windscreen pillar and I think I have subwoofer (a bit hard to tell as it's covered in carpet). I'm confused.

Prestige and Premium are two different systems. If you have the colour screen and in dash 6 cd its the Premium.

Don't know if you meant it but the Standard only comes with single in dash CD so if you have a six then you have premium. Ditto for the sub.

Actually:

Standard - Single CD

Prestige - 6 Stack CD

Premium - 6 Stack CD + Colour LCD + Subwoofer and Amp

Update..

Base 100 watt Single CD LCD Display - all cars get single CD as base (apart from Fairmont and Giha)

Prestige sound LCD display and 6 stack CD - Std on Fairmont, Option only on XT, Futura

Premium Sound Colour Screen 6 stack suby etc - Std on Ghia, Option only on XR6, 6T, 8, Fairmont

Note: In the XR with the Premium sound the words "6 Stack" or "6 CD" are no printed on the dash. They are printed on the Fairmont, Ghia though.

You can not miss the Suby grill in the parcel shelf and the colour LCD display though for the premium sound...

This is for Sedans and Wagons only. Not utes. I believe the premium sound is not an option in the UTE..??

To sum it all up, I recall one person telling me that the Premium sound system is "worth every Watt" :D
