That price is a little over the top but for under a grand valve springs are cheap insurance.

From what I have seen , sooner or later you WILL need them and lunching an engine is a expencive way to learn a lesson.

I agree with Paul@eliteauto

We all pay insurance on our cars knowing we may not need it but im sure we all sleep better knowing we do have it.

Have no problems with mine yet but as you can imagine with any springs overtime they will sag and become lazy. So they will need changing eventually.

800 would not be far fetched for labour. Depending on where you go. I am lucky my good mate owns DSR engines and mechanical in thornton and he's always happy to help me out.

I found this on atomics website. Intresting...

"Q: I was quoted $1400 to supply and fit a set of H/D valve springs to a Ford Turbo 6 cylinder - is this the usual cost for this job?

A: No, it is not. Our springs are priced from $369/set and the labour to install should be around $300-$350. In the past, the cylinder head needed to be removed, however we manufacture a special tool (Atomic #100704) to change the springs with the cylinder head still on the car, saving labour and gaskets, etc. We can usually refer you to a workshop in your area that has our tool and can undertake the job for you."
