Hello there, as I have been reading alot on this forum I cannot find a specific thread about the RSPEC motor (BFMKII)

I find when giving my car a little stick , it seems to fluctuate in power. being a mechanic my self im not green to the

tech talk. to me it seems as if the actuator is not (a) seating properly or (b) the spring is failing.

the surge in boost seems to fall off then back on at full noise...but what gets me is that it does not always

happen . I would say 50% of the time??

as I am not experienced in the electronic age of the car. was wondering if the boost control from the EMS/ECU

could have problems?

Just would like to hear from techs or people who have experienced this problem before, Note there have been no mods

to this vehicle (standard) to date. with a 6 speed auto.

but have in mind to do mild mods to it in the future to crack around 350rwkw's

any help would be great ty

P.S I am also trying to find out the tech on the standard turbo , if it has a ceramic turbine in place of steel? and the standard boost it runs.

once again thankyou.

Hey Mate,

Regular things to check and service on these cars are:

1. Boost Solenoid: Needs a squirt of WD40 every service, change oil and filter every 7,500k's

2. Make sure the throttle body is clean

3. Re-torque the bolts on the exhaust manifold and turbo: do this every service.

4. Sparkplug gap: 0.83 seems to work the best for me.

5. Coil packs: check them for hairline cracks and deteriorated rubber

6. Oil supply filter for the turbo: the factory fitted filter is not adequate and not really cleanable. It's a bitch of a job and you are better off getting a braided kit to replace the line with an external filter, look through the site sponsors section to find one, or any good performance shop should have them on the shelf.

Your issue could be any one or combination of the above and you will find "how to's" for most of these pinned at the top of the "General tech" section.

Pretty sure the 'phoons run 6 - 8 psi of boost from factory. Dunno about the turbine, but I would think it's ceramic.

Cheers,

Ben

It’s identical to the Typhoon/F6 motor, R-Spec just got supposedly upgraded suspension and a few pretty bits and pieces stuck on.

Can someone please change his username? lol

P.S. it's definately the boost solenoid. Mine did the same thing for months, and I replaced the solenoid and it has run perfectly ever since, now change your name
