I dont think it was a secret that the supercharged option was tagged as project Miami bunna.

??? Supercharged option? right...I think there's still a few misconceptions out there. And yeah, I'm not just going to go around throwing about program names and info, because I happen to like my job. If its been mentioned before fantastic :beerchug:

So...

Either supercharger is not an option, being standard, or there is something else again. Perhaps there are turbo's rather than a S/C.

Turbo's would be the way to go for a number of reasons.

Turbo installations use less fuel than S/C installation. Pretty much the entire world car industry is moving towards turbos for that reason.

Then there is the perfectly flat wall of torque possible with modern computer controlled turbo installations, as exemplified by the 996/997 Turbo, the XR6T variants and then the 135i and now whatever the big 400KW BMW TT is called. The torque plateau is the other reason for the rise of the modern turbo.

A V8 TT with low inertia twin turbo's can extend the max torque plateau to even lower in the rev range than an XR6T variant, say down to 1,300 RPM or thereabouts.

DI works so well with turbo installations, maybe not now, but say for model upgrade and for emission targets in later years. Same same for active muffler technology.

Ford does turbos sooooo well.

Here is to hoping the new V8 is a TT rather than an S/C. That would be cool.

Regards,

aa

My money is on N/A for the base models and S/C for the high end models. The complexity of turbocharging a V8 is going to add a lot more to cost. For a middle market car, this extra cost just isn't justified, not even for a little more fuel economy. There's reason why turbo V8s are so rare.

Don't forget, they have to provide warranties for these TT and/or SC V8's you're all dreaming of!
