Has anybody on here installed an aftermarket ECU to a BA XR6 or XR8 and kept the dash functioning.

If so my question is as follows,

Do you only need to piggy back (share) all of the input sensors between the standard ECU and the aftermarket ECU for the dash to keep functioning correctly.

Or are there other requirements, such as have the factory ECU reset or something.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

its easy as.

Whats the info worth to you?

all dash functions work except cruise control at this stage and radiator fan control.

basically all you need is crank sensor plus sensors under intake manifold, ac etc

Problem solved.

I worked out that I needed to fit a resistor to fix the issue.

So I have now completed a full ViPEC V88 and ViPEC XPS-4 CDI install on a Harrop Supercharged BA XR8 with full DBW control by the ViPEC.

Everything works spot on, cold start, hot start, drivability and plenty of power.

Very happy with the results.

I now have to build a customers XR6T engine with full Atomic parts list and T51.

I will definately be using ViPEC all the way here again.

I will post the results on completion, for those who are interested.

The install itself for me was easy, but I've been doing ECU installs and tuning for many years.

You are using an Autronic ECU, SM4 I assume, so you will not need to use a resistor to make the tacho work.

Are you going to use the DBW or go for a cable pedal and throttle body setup.

If you are going to use DBW, I assume you will be using a TF Electronics DBW Controller.

Brian had either Autronic or MoTec fitted to his blue beast, and had it removed for the Edit system instead.

yes I talked to brian about it, he was running a motec. his car is built to be a street car however, I was going to stick with standard, but now its going to be a pretty radical car so I thought why not, especially when it comes to pushing harder. yes its a sm4, not too sure on the specifics, I have to go down and see where its at in a few days he still has the wiring harness in peices..ill be able to give some details once I see where its at

well I went down..wiring harness is in more pieces and hes ordered an autronic ignition module. it so he can run a stronger spark through the weapon x coils I bought to be installed, good insurance at high boost he tells me..I feel its massive overkill though especially since theres cars making alot more power than mine through standard ecu. the ignition module was $1100 ffs. he is putting an au xr8 cable throttle in also...if someone knows about the ignition module and the whole picture id love to hear it
