Killing Vermin

My bro does a fair bit of hunting with SWAT cops in country SA....he reckons the .270 is a straighter shot over 200 metres compaired to the .308... Dont quote me but it has something to do with a .308 being a looping bullet that is harder to scope in at longer distances....just what I heard from SWAT cops.

Here is what I have to do and what I will purchase -

Option 1- Join Cessnock Hunting club

Option 2 - Get letter from NSW land owner to shoot on his property

Might do both anyway

Get licence

Get licence for intent to purchase

Have decided to get a hobby...

Anyone on here kill vermin in the Hunter or elsewhere.

Have never got my license before but grew up on a farm and have regularly shot hi powered rifles when I was living in SA.....243, 30 30, 2506, 308

Whats the deal with joining a Hunting Club(there is one in Cessnock) and how hard is it to get your license in NSW nowadays

Pretty certain I would be a fit person to knock a wild dog(vermin)at 400 metres

Before I get attacked by treehuggers or pet lovers....wild dogs in the Hunter Valley are killing 100 sheep/per night.....you wouldn't be patting these things...you would be missing an arm if you tried.

The 270 is a very fine gun. 308 bullets are heavier so they won't shoot as flat unless there's more cartridge behing them.

Got back yesterday arvo from a not so successful weekend. The wind was quite strong and constantly changing direction so it wreaked havoc on our chances. All the small stuff was real toey and the bigger stuff was either tucked up in bed or could smell us from miles away. We ended up with the usual array of rabbits and hares and a couple of foxes that came to the whistle thinking they were getting a free feed but found us instead.
