That fight was a classic, Mundine kept on running around the ring backwards half the night then he was holding echols hand for the other half, but I must admit good tactics and he deserves the win.

He's still an knob and  but!

And people are saying he is a role model for young Aboriginals, for persuing dreams......yeah <_< , but attitude <_<

I don't really like him either. Having said that I respect him a bit more now he is fighting better oppenents.

Didn't like his duck and dive tactics to win the world title(Made for a boring fight) , but hey it won him a world title.

I will only accept that he is the best in the world when he proves it and stops running from Danny Green. If he stops Green I will keep my mouth shut from then on. :tears:

I think he is a tosser also. Dont forget the title he won was vacant anyway. I especially liked it when he went for one of the other (how many world's are there?) world titles and was knocked on his arse.

And then to top it off you have Ray Martin last night comparing him to Ali. Get a grip.

I think if Mundine can dodge Echols Fists, he can definately dodge Greens forehead!

I thought the fight between Oskan and Chong(5th Bout) was heaps better. That Samoan fella just wouldn't drop.

That was one of the best fights Ive seen in a long time.

Mundine is a knob jockey, And what was with the Aboriginal dance!!!!

was that to try and scare Eckols?

Never been a fan of Mundine but good luck to him. He is quick, probably the quickest in the division but if he fights a guy like Joe Calzaghe he won't have his (secondary) world title for long. Sven Ottke is the real WBA champ and Joe Calzaghe is the best in that weight division. Ottke won't fight Calzaghe because he is scared of him. I think if Mundine got a second chance against Ottke he could beat him but Calzaghe would kill him. Off course the one we would all like to see is Mundine V Green. My tip would be Green in what would be a great fight.

Well done to the Man, but lets keep it in perspective. He won the WBA title, the one Ottke beat him for before. Suddenly the WBA declares Ottke a 'super world champion' (god knows what that is !) and vacates his title so Mundine fought Echols for the title. Theoretically Ottke is still the undefeated champ in that division but if they call it a world title and Mundine wins it then all power to him. He fought a very intelligent fight and focussed on his strengths (speed, agility) and not punching power to win.

I look forward to seeing him fight Danny Green, though I dont think it will happen in a hurry. Green would be way too strong but they said that about Echols. I would still back Green but, for the time being, Mundine is a deserving champ.

As for the undercard. I hate to be a wet blanket, but anyone who knows anything about boxing would have been embarassed by the undercard. The Oskan v Chong fight was very ordinary. Like watching 2 drunks fight out the front of a pub. Oskan's footwork was pathetic (stance didnt match his punches) and for a guy whose a world kick boxing champ, he couldnt punch his way out of a wet paper bag. He had about 20 chances to knock the guy out but either couldnt or didnt know what to do. He gobbed off afterwards about wanting to take on the best in the world. He wouldnt last 1 round with a decent fighter. He was supposedly sparring with Mundine leading up to the fight, he obviously didnt learn anything. He should stick to kickboxing as his pro boxing career will last until he fights someone who trained for the fight (Chong didnt even know it was an 8 round fight!) and can actually throw an effective punch. No one was in danger of getting hurt in the Oskan v Chong bout.

Sadly the undercard showed the very ordinary status of Australian professional boxing. We have a handful of outstanding fighters, but the void between them and the rest is massive. The undercard just demonstrated that. Guys shouldnt be fighting on undercards of world titles if they have lost more fights than they have won. Often when you see fights from o/s they have other world champ fights on the undercards, or at least NABF titles or fights that qualify guys to fight for world titles. High standard stuff.

Well done to the Man, you have shut a few people up and your attitude seems to have changed a fair bit. I despair for the guys on the undercard though. It made me wanna start it up again
