July 3, 200917 yr #11 Becarefull as the company I purchased my Xcal 2 through told meto go with the Xcal2 not the Livewire as it had issue's on our cars.Try Matt at BPR (Bullet Performance Racing) he maybe able to shreadsome light on these for you.He is a Dreamscience supplier who where dealing through SCT but fromlast I had heard they where doing there own software and moving awayfrom SCT.I was able to purchase the Racer Pro software from him over a year agoit allows you to do your own tuning on your vehicle and is approx half thecost of the workshop software. The software is Advantage 3 its only differance is you only get the catch codefor your vehicle unless you purchase others. The workshop comes with all catch codes.Racer Pro is ideal for people who want to tune there own car, keep in mind its prettycomplex and theres alot to learn. I have good old school tuning ability of carb'd vehiclesand have been able to get my head around the software, albiet still heaps to learn.Give Matt (BPR) a call he is very clued on and I'm sure he can help you.
July 3, 200917 yr #12 Spoke with CV and they hadnt come accross the livewire so they couldnt make any comment.from the research I have done these came out prior to the Xcal 3 (not in aust though).Pricing wise, your looking at roughly the same cost buying one of these fropm capa and getting 3 custom tunes done by your tuner as you would getting an xcal 3 and 3 custom tunes all from your tuner. The delema I have is that I would prefer to get it all from the tuner so If I have a problem I can just go back to them. on the other hand I feel capa got short changed by sct and wouldn't mind supporting them a bit + live wire has some nifty features (even if it is pretty damn huge).I guess I'll think it over and see what other opinions pop up over the weekend.Thx 01txr re bpr but as I am in sydney. I wouldnt mind something like pro racer but with my limited knowlege and a 40k investment in the car, I think I'll stick with the most conservative option - xcal3/livewire Edited July 3, 200917 yr by rockafellqeinstien
July 3, 200917 yr #13 I thought SCT were dealing with Herrod now not CAPA?? Have I missed something here?
July 3, 200917 yr #14 Author Seems the consensus is let someone else try it first and if all good get one. Now just where can we find someone to buy one !!!! hehehe
July 3, 200917 yr #16 not worth it.have know of people having software issues with them. the box itself.yeh its got a tiny shift light and you can monitor different stuff.but if your tuner is competant, why would you need to bother monitoring stuff?and if youve got time to be watching the little screen on the livewire in front of you, you arent driving hard enough!!
July 4, 200917 yr #17 You arn't driving hard enough.Yeh not like watching a yellow F6 pull away in front of you Thursday night.Just stirring, what was your opinion on it, does it go as good as I have been told. There is also a new set up coming from SCT, (SCT Touch Screen Xtreme)Check out the infohttp://www.sctflash.com/TSX.phpSome features - see link for more.Sleek Compact Design Sleek compact design for reduced windshield interference & easy storage in glovebox or shirt pocket. Wireless Technology Flashes & data logs the vehicleusing wireless technology Touch Screen Display 4" color touch screen display with automatic day / night modes. User Adjustable Graphics User adjustable background graphics/ gauge sets. Data Logging / Monitoring View & record or monitor your vehicle's PCM data Rechargeable Battery Internal rechargeable battery for complete wireless operation. USB charging cable included. Performance Calculator Displays estimated 1/4 mile &0-60mph ET, HP and TQ! Expandable Memory Easily increase the device storage space. Sounds good, but dont know when and if it will be compatable with our cars.
July 5, 200917 yr #18 I want a rematch mate, guess turbo lag helps with traction as I was all wheelspin!
July 5, 200917 yr #19 Bogan - Heard he was caring a lot more weight than you, and that you had some wheel spinbut his was bagging them pulling away from you.I will have to make sure I catch it next round.
