June 30, 200917 yr #1 Hey guysOk been playing around more with e85 this weekend.FG xr6t been running on it for a good 10,00k now all is goodThrew a sh*t load more timing into it everywhere and more boost And now am getting 13l/100km full sydney traffic dont have to rev it past 2k each gear change and you still go quicker than traffic.and highway I have been about 9l/100km Its all bullsh*t about running 30% more you can run lean as on cruise as the turbo motor is low comp. a/f is 13:1 to 16:1 in some spots with no heat problems etc etc etc if the motor had 13:1 comp and turbo then you would have to run around the 9.8:1 Anyways is anyone else on here running it yet ???Oh sitting in the m5 tunnel made me just make another topic on e85 as that tunel would cause alot less cancer if we all used ethanol.Respect e85
June 30, 200917 yr #2 problem is it is not readily available. This is what is stopping most people adopting this alternative fuel.
June 30, 200917 yr #4 Sorry, you have not tuned your car to run E85 and you are running it all the time? Sounds dangerous, AFRs 16:1 means nothing if its early in the rev range. What is the afr at the top end of the rev range? Anyway to me sounds like a recipe for disaster.
June 30, 200917 yr #5 once my BF turbo is out of warranty in December, I'll get a flash tuner and I'd love to get one of the tunes done for E85. JC20b - did you tune this yourself? or get a tuner to set it up?
July 2, 200917 yr #6 Author Hey guysI hate typing Jono pm me Someone from Melbourne tuned it.I get good economy and the reason you can go so lean is the octane and the 6 doesnt have much compression this fuel wants compression to have to work at its Stoich 9.8:1 or some sh*t.Guys read and learn about it before you judge. haha
July 2, 200917 yr #8 If people would actually look into alternatives rather than just bag them maybe they would understand.I have a friend with an R33 Skyline GTS-T running a 3037 (smaller than our turbos) using E85 he managed to get 350rwkw at 19psi. Doesn't sound too impressive as far as barra motors go, but you have to remember that his motor is only a 2.5L!The thing hauls ass too, I'd invite anyone in Sydney running the same power level to try and keep up - E85, sweet like sugar....
July 2, 200917 yr #9 I under stand but after talking to a lady that works at caltex n showed me the info on pros and cons on ethanol I wont be running it anytime soon.but methanol on the other hand ohhhh baby
