Spark Plug Gap

Just wondering what's the best way to regap my plugs ?

0.9 with 16 psi boost.

Can run smaller but nothing below 0.8 is necessary or sensible.

im planning on doing a bit of a service on my car this weekend, and am going to do the spark plugs as part of this...I was wondering if someone could tell me what I should regap them too?

that's what mine are currently gapped to champ . Also have a Blu-power custom tune being uploaded next week ,will go back to whatever chris recommends, You will definately FEEL the difference ,stock or not........PS mine is an N/A XR6.... cheers .

Having said that ,now let me say this ....Keep your plugs set to factory for best performance after a custom tune. NGK - Rs have a gap 1.3mm Car now has no detonation .... Cheers...

Ok I just put a 10psi tune on my car, so I went to gap the plugs first. I've got a few questions as im a bit confused.

My car was stock (as far as I know - purchased at 34,000kms) and it had no mods done to it whatsoever.

1) When I took the plugs out they were all running 0.8mm gaps. Everyone here said the standard is about 1.0 - 1.1mm gap. The spark plugs had Ford written on them and look like the following (see below pic). Is something dodgy going on here??

2) The plugs were considerably dirty (see below pic). Is this normal or not? I'll buy new plugs if I have to. Also is the lower electrode meant to look like a little point or should it be fat like all the other plugs I've used on my XF before.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm in the mood tomorrow to do some mods, so if I need to change plugs then I'll get right on it.

mate when I got my generic tunes it told me to do the exact same thing AND my plugs were already gapped to .8 too.

I think its the BF's that are like this. As for the plugs I couldnt really tell you if you need to replace or not as when I 'did mine' the car only had 4k clicks on the clock

so would you recommend to re gap a standard tune xr6 to .8. what are the cons and pros my old man says that it will not run as smooth the closer the gap is?

I regapped my plugs on the weekend with some over 1.3-1.4mm and I gapped them down to 0.7 and made a big difference in throttle rsponse and stopped the rough idling.

Set the gap to the factory specs, Turbos have a small gap to stop the spark being quench by the extra boost.
