looks like a camry. id have one as a company car, but anything shy of RWD, Turbo or V8 is not going to work in australia and Ford will die in the arse like mitsubishi did with the 380. why???? cos no-one bought them. you couldnt give them away with free bingo sessions to pensioners. The things that Australians and all car enthusiasts love is the RWD platform. I give credit to the AWD Japanese cars which in their own class are good cars. But the thing that has worked is RWD. Its why the Expensive Daewoo and Falcon still sell to the performance biased owners. Its their whole allure. Imagine if ford made a great looking new Falcon, made a new EFI version of the 351 (like what GM did with the 350 chev) and put it out there as Falcons badged as 351's. Now im no marketing guru but I think they will SELL. Id sell my Turbo for a new 351 XR8. Release a 400kw GT-HO? some hate the idea of bringing out that badge for the sacred bathurst winner it was. but there are alot of other cars who won bathurst. Expensive Daewoo brought back the monaro they kept the GTS name. dont see Expensive Daewoo fans screaming over the name use. they bought heaps of them and enjoy the cars. they have a new Torana in the making, they will also sell like the clappers as its going to be RWD on a med size car like the original. Ford need to get out of this whole "how can we sell sh*t loads of these FWD cars?" Easy. by not making them at all. re-release a new good looking car, made easy for export and make a lightweight alloy OHV V8 351 that complies with new Euro standards, chev make the LS3 to new standards, so it can be done, and badge the cars 351. that's my 2c. or bucks. just a thought.

traded my VY SS Ute auto. Loved the sound of the V8 but the turbo grunt is something else. both cars were good in their own way. except the ford is better because it is a Ford love the sound of the turbo spooling then dosing. exhaust sounds meaty, and looks sweet as. Also smokes the rubber nicely. Have a trophy to prove that as well the XR6 Turbo is unique and has it Tuneability increased hugefold with the parts these days. Ill be keeping mine for a long time yet. only thing I could think of upgrading to is a Supercharged GT-P.........

gold. give ya kudos for that drift tocci on the pad. it looked maaad! sounds good but I find even a WAW's I get bored after 4-5 runs. I usually park the car up and go watch. but that's just me and I think there is something worong with me.......

sounds pretty tough without it mate. driving on the freeways in the right hand lane next to the concrete barriers with the windows down. just punch it back a gear or two and mash the loud pedal and sounds awesome.

hey mate if ya dont ask you never find out. Now there are 2 common Ford ECU upgrade packages on the market at the moment. There are the standard 'Flash' tuner boxes which plugs in to the Data port in the fuse box panel, these generally sell for about $500-$600 with a generic tune which will improve the performance but without such things like hi-flo exhaust, intake modifications and camshafts, the increases will be minimal. The other is the Sniper package which is just a different brand which essentially does the same thing. Camshaft packages can vary but with the BA twin cam plus tuning and installation, be prepared to pay between $1000-$2000, plus head porting and valve work will cost about that again. im not sure of many people who have gone down this avenue as the most popular way of getting power out of the 4.0L six is Turbocharging. So be prepared to fork out some serious hard earned, but will be a potent package when done properly.

well getting good power figures out of a NA engine is all in the Cams and the head. All the mods like yr exhaust, CAI and tune dont give huge power increases but do improve from stock figures by about 30-40rwkw. Like all engines if ya want big power the tuning is all in the flow of ya heads and bigger cams. There are a few XR6's running around close to 200rwkw but all with bolt ons and will cost alot to get more. A typical flash tune will gain about 10-20rwkw because the tuning ford has done is pretty good from factory. mind you a NA twin cam six with all those mods sounds freakin awesome. cams and head porting with bigger valves is getting into turbo money, but if insurance is limiting and if its what ya wanna do then go for it dude.

not that im running a 6 speed but I got a T5 in mine and running 265rwkw and its only starting to slip in 4th and 5th at peak torque (700nm) been holding up pretty well so far. I give it a fair bit of stick down the drags. not bad for an old stocker clutch. a 6 speed BF should handle up to 300rwkw easily.

I installed a set of King Spring Super Lows (not track spec) on my Turbo but didnt want the full stiffness from real hard springs (used to own jap cars with hard coilovers on Adelaide's crappy roads). I do alot of freeway driving in mine and the roads in perth are pretty smooth so it drives real nice. Im going to put in some stiffer Dampers to go with the new springs. Its a nice balance of rideheight (its low enough to scrape in most carparks if ya not careful) and good ride quality. $250 bucks discount price and installed myself in an afternoon.
