Hey Guys,

I want to set myself a task, collect a $1 Australian coin every day for 1000 days. It's to remind me that each day is precious and that I should make the most of each day.

I'll need a display box to hold them. The interior dimensions need to be:

260mm wide x 260mm long x 40mm high

I'd like all side faces and the lid to be transparent, base doesn't have to be transparent. Any ideas on where I can buy or how I can build such a box ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking of a wooden base with clear acrylic walls and a massive acrylic lid, but there could be better designs.

Cheers.

speak to some one who works with perspex they may be able to bend some thing up for you.

Or try the reject shop or home base stores you never know what you will find in there.Cheers Nick

use $2 coins - will take up less space and you'll have $2k at the end.. perfect for giving me my $1k fee for suggesting the space saving idea???

NB

you chould have posted this last week, have just thrown out similar box. Mark made me a box from perspex for scoring softball in the winter. needed to be clr top so I could see what I was writting with out the water, would have been hell easy to wack a side on.

He jsut used, like Kieran said, perspex and silicone (I think silicone cause being a plumber would have had it in the shed...)

best of luck maybe Howard Storage or IKEA would have something you can dodgey up. We currently have the container that your pool chemicals come in, not 100% clear but you can see how full it is silicone (this time I know cause I did it) the lid on and cut a hole for coins.

I made up a reptile tank a couple of years ago using MDF & laminate glass using a CNC router.

All I did was machine a 6.35mm groove into the MDF base & siliconed the glass into the machined groove.

Then I used 12 x 12mm aluminum angle on the corners of the glass to hide the corner joins.

If youve got access to a hand router it wouldnt be a hard job at all.

Im in Sydney so if you need any help shoot me a PM
