g'day folks. As title suggests 5th gear slips maybe 2-3 times I go into it but she's fine wen I finally get it in.

Also when in reverse the noise it makes it is louder then most cars.

Does anyone know what the causes could be, maybe the gearbox on it's way out?

Cheers in advance fellas

What do you mean by it "slips" when you go in (to the gear I'm guessing)? Is the clutch slipping? that's easy to fix - new clutch!

What gearbox is it? T5 5spd or T56 6spd? Any mods? standard clutch?

The more info about the situation the better we can help mate

Suspecting its the 5 speed id say its possibly on the way out coupled with a possible clutch issue.

sorry mate. It's a 5spd, and when you place it in 5th gear take out the clutch can drive for 5 seconds then it pops out of gear so I have to put it back in gear

Ah yeah, I'd say its time for a re-build mate, but better still if the budget can stretch further get yourself a T56 6spd

id say that it needs the oil level topped up, try that and I bet it fixes it. 5th gear pop out is a good sign of low gearbox oil
