I need to find this out too

I used a cheap powered alpine line level converter, and slpiced into the rear speaker wires. I paid $20 2nd hand for mine. that has rca outs and you plug them into your amp input and you are away. I did it myself, took like 30 mins max.

have a look at my for sale add LC6i line convertor.

I was told there are cheaper convertors on the market but they suffer interferrance and

dont process the signals correctly.

You run your speakers wires to it and it converts it correctly to rca output, then plug it

into a amp to power whatever you would like.

It is 6 channel so you can run a full system from it.

Look at my ad for more details.

Also have other audio gear for sale plus other parts.

Its new in sealed plastic bag in a cardboard box.

Cost me $300

Sell $230 plus postage if needed.

I have changed my setup by going with a external DVD head unit.

The down side is I lose the steering wheel audio control in going with the external head unit.

By using this line convertor you retain the steering wheel audio control.

PM for address details or contact if this is what you want.

It can be picked up at Boronia Heights QLD or will post at your cost.

I too can vouch for the LC6i... Just sold mine a few days ago to a guy on here.. Mine went for $150 (used).

Only sold it cause my stacker crapped itself and bought a head unit. The LC6 is good, but its not as good as a head unit, but better than the cheap Alpine one I had, then gave away...

I recommend the pre-out mod, its way easy, the only abilities you need to have are:

-Eye Sight (Don't recommend using guide dogs)

-Steady hand

and other stuff you buy from shops. If your in Melb I could offer on-site advice if you attempt it.

Pre-outs from what I've heard are way clearer sound.

So the pre-out mod rather than a line out converter is better sound quality and cheaper to do?

However, line out converter is quicker, less hassle and easy to do.

I like my sound quality, so is the work doing the pre-out mod worth the time and effort to do?

my mate has the line out coverter(the one you run the factory speaker wires into) he runs 2 amps 4 splits and 2 subs it sounds great I had the similar system in my car but had a jvc deck with 4v pre outs sub control etc, and you could not tell the diff, I will be doing the easy way with the line converter box in my xrt when I get it

after you run the factory speaker wires into the convertor, is there other wires that run out to your rear speakers?? With premium sound can you use the power for the factory sub to run new ones????
