How To Get Power To Sub?

So, got a sub with amp on the way, but need to know hw to get power to the amp.

I did a DIY job on my previous car (dodgy bros.), and basically just ran the power cable through a hole I found in the passenger's side firewall.

has anoyne done a DIY job for a sub on the std system and succeeded?

mate I just put a hole in the large grommet in the passengers footwell of the firewall and ran it down the passengers side under the door trim through the seatbelt bracket and up under the rear seat.. also ran my remote this way.

How did you go about conecting the amp to the head unit?

again very dodgy bros, just had a $25 wiring kit bought with the sub. just ran the power lead down the passenger side, and then the rca signal leads down the drivers side. all visible ad just kind of laying there.

wanting to do something a little less 'hey is that supposed to look like that?'

I've read here that getting a high/low converter or filter from the rears and then into the amp will suffice for the signal, but now just the power problem...

any thoughts?

Yeah mate run it under the door sills and you cannot see anything.

And yes I used a hi-lo convertor and just tapped into the existing speaker wire in the rear. You can also buy most amps now with hi level inputs.

how about power control? ie: on/off? my old setup was through a toggle switch next to driver's side seat, but again looked crap, and had to get RAC out twice for new batteries when I forgot to turn it off

I ran the single wire from the back of the cigarette lighter which is easy enough to get to and under the glovebox then behind the kickpanel and down the side like the amp power. Then it powers on when you turn the key to acc..

for the ACC lead I found it easier to use the phone car kit plug (the purple one) behind the fuse box just a use a meter to find which pin it is and all you need is a male spade connector and bobs ya uncle no need to splice into any wires then
