Lol, that's pretty hard core.

Apart from the associated risks of importing/trafficking copious amounts of ganja, surely it would have been cheaper just to get it across the mexican border than set all that up?

In 'inner city and urban' London, they now use huge heat detecting machinery to scan area's from the air/street to detect houses that have a lot of heat in them for signs of hydroponic setups... Doesnt come up with electricity or power bills as they normally tap into a power supply and dont get charged for it...

How do those heat scanners work, I've seen them in the movies detecting people inside the house but surely they can't be that sensitive to detect persons heat through the roof/wall. But I guess 20 hydroponic lamps could be detected, at least through the window.

But that thing was underground, no way of detecting anything there from the air.

they generally pick excessive heat coming out of exhuast fans or vents it only takes a few degrees above normal to make a big red glow on the screen ,they can't see through things walls etc,I have seen one pic with the whole eave line around a house glowing red they were pumping the hot air into the roof cavity

Lol I always wondered why the spare room at my old share house was decorated in a lovely black-concreter's-plastic motif... :stupid:

Is airborn IR imaging legal for the cops to use without probable cause in Australia?

Can they just fly over suburbia looking for slightly warmer than usual houses or do they have to target specific suspect properties?

Check this out.

Pretty awesome.

"KopBusters rented a house in Odessa, Texas and began growing two small Christmas trees under a grow light similar to those used for growing marijuana. When faced with a suspected marijuana grow, the police usually use illegal FLIR cameras and/or lie on the search warrant affidavit claiming they have probable cause to raid the house. Instead of conducting a proper investigation which usually leads to no probable cause, the Kops lie on the affidavit claiming a confidential informant saw the plants and/or the police could smell marijuana coming from the suspected house.

"The trap was set and less than 24 hours later, the Odessa narcotics unit raided the house only to find KopBuster's attorney waiting under a system of complex gadgetry and spy cameras that streamed online to the KopBuster's secret mobile office nearby.

"The attorney was handcuffed and later released when eleven KopBuster detectives arrived with the media in tow to question the illegal raid. The police refused to give KopBusters the search warrant affidavit which is suspected to contain the lies regarding the probable cause."

By the way, anyone seen the Aerogarden informercials?? That thing looks tight! Group buy??? :B):

I think an accidental spotting of excess heat would give them prob cause to come and have a closer look ? I'm no expert on the legal side

They use infra-red cameras out in amongst forestry as well...apparently the actual marijuana plant gives off more heat than native plants or something.

So I assume it must be legal over here? :stirthepot:
