Power Steering Rack

Hey ,

im needing to purchase a power steering rack cheap as possible , I was wondering how much I should expect to pay ,

AU - BF are interchangeable interchangeable

Im only wanting to change it , due to going to RWC , its leaking the slightest bit , my old T used to leak more but didn't notice it 1 bit , every oil change I had to add some fluid

I was told by the wheel alignment guy at bridge stones , I can undo the rubber boots on the arms , and clean it out and add a rag or 2 , so the rag soaks it up what extent is this true to ?

im only making this thread, due to RWC cert in S.A can only be done at 1 place called regency , everything can get failed there, my old T and civic got failed for silly reasons

NO I am not cutting corners in getting this RWC cert , I just cant justify changing the rack when its still perfectly good just slight leak on the seals feels like a waste of how ever much it is

racks are $240 on ebay exchange deal

tomorrow I shall find out il ring around

I flushed the fluid out before , 1.6L or so came out was dirty as any fluid with 100K km+

hopefully new thicker fluid will extend life and wont leak as fast

anyone got an experience using power steering stop leaks , easy to use just wondering how well itl work

dam it cant edit

but u guys laugh at me now , BA racks are the same cheap poor quality trust me it will leak , u will not even notice it , the boot will flood it self before u realize a stain on drive way

give it 100 - 130K

Mine is stuffed at 60k with clicking and clunking sounds. Had pedders look at it and they wanted nearly $1k for the job but cant justify it! the new rack and pinion I was quoted $350 but I would assume they would try and keep mine.

I'm just putting up with it until I 'cant stands it no more'...

By contemplating putting some old raggs in the boots you are cutting corners.

Get an exchange one and then you wont have to worry about it

lol I know it is , but ya im lazy means effort to remove the rack , I just cleaned it out with degresser n hose , hopefully its not to bad , there were no cracks in boot , but cable tie was missing on 1 end so ya il put some new ones on once water drys n itl be as good as new

Chief, I wouldnt trust you with a bag of rubbish let alone a steering rack swap.
