I understand the term quite well in fact I killed a skyline r33 motor on 91 ron (tight ass, it said premium on the feul cap) and learned my lesson. :spoton: The thing is eco feul is ron 95 so........is it still ok?

If it's 95ron then it will be fine.

So much hype is surrounded with ethanol blended fuels it's not funny.

Judging by your sig your engine isn't highly strung so I see no reason not to run this fuel.

For arguments sake why not try a tankful and see how it goes. If you don't like it you can always switch back.

And if your worried about anything, throw it on the dyno with a tankful of the eco fuel and see how your AFR's are.

I find it a little worrying that you're sig says you're running a generic tune and yet you're using standard unleaded :outahere: !

Any pinging ?

Also, re ethanol, I got a little sticker on my fuel flap that says OK to use 10%. Dunno if there's any fuels out there with more than that in it, but I'd still stick with 98 anyways...

No. No pinging, and on the pertol cap it say unleaded it just doesn't say which one anyways 95 ron or 98 from now on. Wouldn't a higher octane cause a higher compression, hence cause pinging? or have I got it wrong. :fool:

I asked about the eco fuel that shell uses, and the bloke at the counter told me it was 94 RON.

However their brochure stipulates Minimum 91 RON, and typically 94 RON....

http://www.shell.com/static/au-en/download...ell_e10_tds.pdf

Optimax has a MINIMUM rating of 98 RON.

Why would anyone buy the ECO stuff. Ethanol is NOT eco-friendly!

You obviously do not know about fuels. The higher the octane rating the less pinging you will get. Unless your car is tuned on a knife edge, a bad batch of 98 will cause your engine to ping.

Just keep putting in 95 and you will be fine. If you wanted to save a bit of coin on fuel I suggest buying an Accent or Colt.

Id run with the 98 oct fluid bud!

However - FYI

Mobil E10.....

"Will using Mobil E10 Unleaded affect the performance of my vehicle?

Ethanol is a high-quality, high-octane fuel component. The octane in Mobil E10 Unleaded is typically above 93 RON whereas regular unleaded petrol is 91 to 92 RON.

The increased octane of Mobil E10 Unleaded may allow some engines to operate more efficiently. Mobil E10 Unleaded also contains a corrosion inhibitor to protect the fuel system and a detergent additive to keep inlet valves and fuel injectors clean."

Shell V-Power Racing was a 5% (maybe 10% cant remember now) Ethanol Fuel.. 100 oct... No longer made however.

As is the 100 Oct fuel from United Stations made by CSR Fuels... (Sugar)...

So if you basing all decisions on the Oct level of the fuel... the Mobil E10 is a 93 Oct (higher then Std Unleaded at 91/92)...

:beerchug:

There is other components to fuel worth considering if your a real petrol head, not just the Oct level v's another...

If it's tuned to run E85 you won't do damage.

Extract taken from wikipedia 'Depending on composition and source, E85 has an octane rating of 100 - 105[4] compared to regular gasoline's typical rating of 85 - 93.'

Arent the V8 Supercars running E85 next year?

And subsequently have to make more fuel pitstops becasue the cars will use more fuel?????

Like has already been mentioned earlier, if you are concerned with fuels, and dont want to run the expensive juice, a Civic Hybrid or a Prius may be more down your alley.
