I been looking through the exhaust section and I've had enough so I'll ask it :).. Now I'm from New Zealand and we arn't so dam eco friendly and we don't have restrictions on having a cat (so I'm told (correct me if I'm wrong)).

Basically if I were to cut it out and replace with a straight throught pipe from the dump to my center muffler (which is also a straight throught pipe) would it cause any problems ... I read some where that'd I'd need a custom tune getting off topic but how much would 1 set me back.. in NZD remember.

Thanks

If you remove the cat your car will overboost - pretty well gauranteed!

It will improve overall flow however

  • No boost, no bottle, just my foot on the throttle!

You will need to have a Edit custom tune to make the car drive.

its very variable mate, in NSW alone it can range between around $500 all the way up to $1500. Depends what you want really. Just ring up a couple of places near you and have a chat!

I had my cat gutted for a few days last week. f*ck me it made a massive difference to the throttle response and spooling! It didn't overboost really unless you floored it in 5th for ages, but in the first few gears it stayed within the limits. The exhaust note went raspy and barked a little, so I got a 3.5" MetalCat fitted. Much better :spoton:

yer to run without a cat in WA the rules are its $5000 fine for the vehicle owner and $10,000 fine for the shoip that fit it.
