Called Into Capa Today

I went into capa today as they are the only tuner within 300km and got some prices for mods and walked out unsure of wat to think any advice is welcome

firstly for a turbo bak exhaust mild steel 3'' price was $1500 which I thought was resonable but I only planned on a hi flow cat and they wouldnt agree that the standard piping was up to the task

next was a price to fit my injectors and tune to suit although I dont think this is a proper custom tune as they dont even have a dyno. so im not sure about this one at $400

a clutch upgrade was $1100

the one that blew me away was for a stronger psi actuator and flapper valve to be fitted over $1000

he wrote it all down for me with prices but it was so basic I didnt realy know wat I was buyin and they didnt seem to care about wat I had to say and gave me a blank look wen I said I was chasing 300+kw atw

I am not to sure on whether these prices are steep or not and wat to do cos I realy have nowhere else to go

keep looking mate, the CAPA guys have almost given up on the Fords by the looks of it.

A 3" exhaust is basically the equivalent of the stock one, a custom tune with out a dyno can be done, but I doubt it will be amazing for $400 bucks and unless they are doing a lot of porting and smoothing work on the entire rear housing of your turbo (a la Nizpro), $1000 seems a bit extreme.

yeah its realy hard living in the country and I agree capa just dont seem to be interested in helping out the ford boys. I have a fantastic mechanic that I am wrapped with but they dont have the software to do tunes and such but they drive performance cars and know there sh*t and cheap. he is fitting my valve springs for $250 including new gaskets and a service with synthetic oil $120 with a 100 point safety check.

far out fitting valve springs for 250 is a mega bargain mate!

Maybe make a day of it and see KPM? Give em a call or a PM first though

How far away from civilization are you?

Maybe you should pack your bags and go on a road trip for a couple of days to a tuner in Adelaide? Might be the only option?

may sound strange but capa has a large name with flash tunes for fords why would they give up on us?

Well if you take a look at their prices and the product range, it hasn't changed for about 4 years! It seems like the only development they do is on the Holdens now, that's all their news page talks about on the web-site.

For example they sell a 12psi actuator for $220, most people are much less than that

either plan a couple of days away and head to melbourne or adelaide ,or if you can't get the time there's plenty of car transport companys that could take the car there and back for you

im 300ks from adelaide so its not that much of a journey. I live in the riverlandwhich is the home of capa. They produced the flash tuner yes neo, but go on their website and see wat they ask for one, its close to $1000 and I purchased mine for under $500 from cv performance. I will deffinatly pm kpm motor sport asking for prices or does anyone know of a good tuner in the mildura area as its actualy closer to go over the boarder?

id never transport my car via truck. I dont trust them with parts little loan my whole car

how do I explain the resoning behind only upgrading the cat and/or dump cos all I get here is that the stock pipes wont flow to allow any more than 270 atw and im led to beleive by some guys on here that that's just not true

can someone give me some guidence on how to go about the mods iv mentioned above

By the sounds of it you've done your research and know what you want... When I ask for stuff to be done, and I take it to a place where they have no idea, I just tell them to do it. I do get the blank stare but stuff em, your paying them to do what you want..

I went to an exhaust place and was asking them about cats and what they stocked etc.. and was saying I only wanted to change the cat, the guy gave me a blank stare and gave me his 2c, which I didnt need/ask for.. He was saying I should get a full 3" system, cause its better bla bla bla... He had no idea about these cars...

Just take it to a site sponsor if possible, or someone/somewhere who have had good results.. Then you wont need to explain anything.. Its just easier...
