Ford and Expensive Daewoo would have to spend alot of money to reduce ther cars weight dramtically. that's why they do power increases for performance. Its is the cheapest and easiest way out. Not nessarilly the smartest.

Power figures are always for show.

It's the torque and the torque delivery that makes the F6 special.

565NM from 1950 rpm and the ability to keep on pulling makes all the difference.

The problem with these cars being too powerful dont show up until 5-10 years from now. When they are cheap enough for P-Platers and inexperienced drivers to get. Then you will see the real impact off the cars being too powerful.

Almost every week I hear about a P-Plater with a WRX that has gotten himself in trouble.

I want to see an FG F6 and an FG GT on a dyno... I think that they will have almost the same power. Ford send so much money on V8 supercars they cant have a turbo with more power...

has anyone ever dynoed a BA xr8 and a BA xr6 turbo...

we did both cars had 9000kms and were a 5 speed manual.

I think we all know which one had more power at the wheels..

xr6 turbo had 10klw more.

it will not be the same with every car made but drive both cars and tell me which one you think has more power...

these power levels are all marketing numbers....

very good marketing numbers at that.

there aim was to beat GM and they did so well done

Does this sound right??? If it's true then GT might just be able to stand up against the xr6t and hsv's

Something I came up against just now.

"the new gt’s kw’s are begin calculated the same way hsv do there not the same way fpv used to for example the old gt’s boss 290 was 276kw by hsv standards so the new boss is 315kw by hsv standards so I could be 320 + by the old standards"

I dont think Chippa is having a go at all P platers SMOKE, but unfortunatley majority of P platers I know have had a close encounter or an accident. I just resently came of P plates and fortunatly havnt had an accident but there has been a few times when if I had had a more powerful car I would of been stuffed. I consider my self a good sensible driver but I have gone out sideways, dragged before and I recon most people have. One time I remeber I went in too hot for a bit of sideways action and came so close to mounting the gutter which had a massive electrical pole there , and I was in a 175kw holden. imagin if I was in a 270kw xr6t.... I smell disaster. What chippa is saying is true, no matter how good you are at driving, the more powerful car your in the more mess you can get your self into...
