Yes it is set low in manual mode to protect itself, in perf auto (or even full auto with the accelerator held past the detent) it will rev higher than the limit imposed while in manual mode. Wasn't having a go at your ability in changing gears, just a suggestion as there is no physical redline and the computer will adjust it based on conditions.

As for the clunk I think Ford is your best bet. These things are supposed to be tough as nails with stock power so it's got me f'ed. :finger:

Hey guys, sorry if this post hasnt been done correctly (Im new). My ute does the exact same. The change from first to second in manuel mode is real shotty. Has done since the day I bought it. When I took the car in for its first service I spoke to the machinic about it and he said they "all" do it. He told me he took the managers typhoon for a test drive with the 6sp auto trans and it did the exact same. Im pritty p*ssed about it too as I think it shouldnt change gear like that. Everything else about the car is sweet though. :finger:

Righto well as far as I'm concerned the manual shift option shouldn't have a lower rev cut off, it's not even logical coz 6 grand is 6 grand...auto or manual. Anyway...I think that whatever the issue is it's probably tunable via the electronic management so that's where I'll start. Cricky...isn't having a manual shift option just that! your choice when to shift!!

Thanks for your opinion...very helpful

Cheers

Well I'm kind of having similar problem that's just started. Under normal or moderate acceleration it changes fine both in auto and manual mode. But under full throttle take off it doesn't want to change up to 2nd in either mode, will just hit the rev limiter. Every other gear change is fine and it only has just started. Any ideas guys? Either way it will be off to RDP while I'm on holidays to let them sort it out.

Had mine out on Sunday on my private road and changing into either 4th or 5th :buttonit: under full boost at wot, it made a hell of a thump locking into gear :censored: . It sounded like someone in the boot hit the floor with a big rubber hammer. My first thought was that the diff housing let go. The oil pressure went up to the end of the gauge and stayed there for about a minute and then everything settled down and it hasn't done it since. The car does like to have a thump sometimes going into 4th under acceleration. To stop the usual ford mucking about and head scratching, I thought I'd just leave it go till it breaks :buttrock: Any Opinions?
