Try just using mouse and keyboard and unplug any other usb devices. I had mine lock up whenever I attached external memory (flash, psp, etc). my scanner was the culprit as it was always plugged in and finally gave a usb port overloaded message 6 months after I'd found the problem!

worth a try

Thanks for the sugestions so far guys!

Zap, I'll try the caps/num lock thing next time it happens.

I'm confident I've cleaned out all of the dust.

All of the fans work but I guess the CPU far could be operating slower than normal.

If when it locks up the CAPS lock and NumLock lights do not go on and off when you press them then it is a hardware lockup.

Tried this today when it locked up... It's a hardware lock up.

It Could be the Power supply not suppling the correct voltages to the components, In turn heating them up and making them lockup =\.. Im not sure.. Usually the lockups are assosiated with the RAM...

Try getting a old PSU hooked up, or Harddrives or something.. and Try to Isolate the fuxed component =\

Open the side cover and setup a small fan to blow air onto the motherboard. Then see if it locks up. I reckon its heat related!!
