They will have no leg to stand on to make you pay for something that you do not need (assuming it is not the problem).

Remember you are relying on monkeys to diagnose a problem.

Some parts can't be returned and I think the PCM is one of them.

They'll just say it was part of the problem anyway. I think you're stuck with it.

WELL......

I go into fraud today, I was going to be all positive today, not being pissed off.

Then this f#*kwit mechanic/ guy on his high horse trys to tell me a few things that ARE utter BS!.

They don't evan understand how CAN BUS works!!. This town is s#*t. The only Ford dealer around and they don't evan understand how there own cars operate.

He evan starts asking what my profession is etc, to make himself look better coz he is a mechanic, bit wrong if I understand more about the elcetrical system than he does.

Its amazing how attitudes change when you talk to Ford Direct.

Anyway, they spent all day on it today an ran every test possible (so they rekon). They are putting it down to a dead PCM.

So another pcm will be ordered ($960).

Catch is, If they replace the pcm and the ute still doesn't start they will wear the price of the pcm (as they should).

But if the ute doesn't start and fries the pcm I have to wear the cost..... (I really don't think this is fair).

Now the reason they are saying that it fried in the first place was a loose earth that was moved to install the UBP. When I know for a fact that this earth was freaking tight! just ask Trough Lolly and Mr Man. They are just trying to put the blame down on me coz I stirred them up a fair bit.

Now, the problem I am seeing here is, if they SO CALLED "found and fixed the problem" and the pcm does fry... how am I liable if THEY fixed THE CAUSE?

And I thought that this was a decent dealership....

If they are correct and that earth caused the problem then it shouldn't fry the new PCM if they've tightened it up.

If the PCM gets fried again then there is another problem.

Did they actually pinpoint test the PCM?

They should be able to tell if it's fried or not rather than just assuming it is.

From what they tell me they have tested everything, and the PCM "IS" dead.

It'll be a $960 paper weight if it fries, they are saying that the earth is definently the problem... but if its a short in the wiring somewhere and fries another pcm I have to wear the cost. that's crap as they are saying that everything else is fine.....

Just had a thought...

If you are having issues with the EEC relay does that mean the PCM isn't actually powering up when the key is turned on like it should?

If so that mgiht be why the WDS/IDS can't communicate with the PCM.

Have they verified the PCM is powering up?

When dodgey workmanship and substandard parts caused my trans wiring to burn out it caused a dead short which burnt a wire all the way from the trans to the PCM. Even that didn't kill my PCM.

Yes, they are saying that the pcm is getting power.. just not operating.. I can only go by what I'm told

I hope this new pcm fixes the problem and its as tuff as your one!!
