4" Dump Plus 3/5" Cat On Stock System?

Featured Replies

Ok,

I am having difficulty tracking down a complete X-force system - currently out of stock of the 2 types I want.

So, worst case (ie, if I can't locate 1 by mid week) I am thinking of just buying the 4" dump and 3.5" cat and having it mated to my stock exhaust. So really, the only difference between this and the X-Force will be twin 2.25" instead of 2.5" and maybe different flowing mufflers (although, I think the factory mufflers flow OK).

Is anyone running decent power with this set-up? Would there really be much difference?

My other mods are: Process West stage 2 cooler, Siemens, K&N with CAI and Walbro intank 341.

Will the stock exhaust with 4" dump and 3.5" cat work well?

Cheers

Dan

The stock exhaust flows alright and with thos mods should see you well into the 300s. The dump and the cat are the most restrictive part of the system so you are eliminating that.

I remember seeing the stock system on cars with well over 330rwkw with a cat change.

so if I want about 330 then the stock exhaust with cat change should be fine?

I've got a SMB dump pipe and cat bolted to the stock system with around 300rwkw's.

I think you should wait and get the parts you want. I have the 4" down/dump, 3.5" cat , twin 2.5" with the larger muffler and its awesome. Through this site I read that there was a droning problem with the 3" instead of the 2x2.5 and also a problem with the smaller muffler (I think this was reported in BCL's thread about the Nizpro kit fitted to his new F6). I also have the stage 2 Nizpro and 333rwkw with stock internals. The x-Force system has 'future proofed' my car and I know that once I do rods/pistons etc I can crank it up to 400+ without doing more changes to the top end or the exhaust. My car is factory quiet and no drone whatsoever, just what I wanted.

Hope this helps.

Yes, but the X-Force system comes in bits and they are all flanged. So, all I do is cut the existing factory exhaust where the dump and cat end and then put a flange on the factory system to bolt it straight up. If I want to upgrade in the future, I simply buy the bits I need and bolt them straight in.

Thanks for your feedback.

If you are looking to make over 300 rwkw then just wait and buy the complete system ... I think Nizpro used to push 330rwkw with their stage II kits with the standard exhaust and cat.

this might add more to the picture as well.... if you can find a good modder who can mate up the Y piece by using an expander you'll get a better flow.

ps after a recent re-tune this set up is now running 300 rw...
