The problem with alot of those poisons is they are designed to attract the ants to the stuff. You may infact bring alot more ants to your car by using it.

Sent a letter off to the Dept of Agriculture 3 Barron-Hay Crt South Perh 6151 with a sample of the ants on a piece of sticky tape. They will identify the ant and tell you what the best product is for it.

We had a huge problem with "coastal brown ants" and tried alot of different things to try to get rid of these ants with no success.

They suggested "Amdro". Within one day problem completely solved. But they only work on ants that eat protein and wont work on alot of other ants where you may have to control with biflex or chloropyriphous.

One option may be a product called Andro. Its easily one of the most effective products on the market and comes in a powder like substance. Good news is that its fantastic, bad news is its about $65 (and many other products are about $20. That said, this stuff lasts a lot longer). I have no doubt this would solve the problem but im not sure if it would cause problems to the car...

I'll have a look at work tomorrow and let you know!

My father-in-law has some Andro, I'll use a little bit of it around the wheels one day when the car's not going to be moving for a little bit, and Ant-Rid on the ground nearby as well to attract and kill them.

This is a great idea, might end up doing that if nothing else works.

Afterwards I'll get a car detailer out to give the inside and outside a really good clean.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll post updates after I give it a good crack :)

Feel for ya mate. Spotted some small black ants in one of my previous cars, can't remember what it was now, and it really gave me the irrits. I think I just used normal insect spray inside and caught as many as I could see with tissues. I think it was because I'd parked up against a bit of grassy scrub and they must have transferred over that grassy bridge. Fortunately, I don't think they had time to build a nest, so once I eventually got them all, the prob went away. But for a time there, I was paranoid about making sure no flora got within a whisker of the panels (well I reasoned they couldn't got up via the wheels - could they?) wherever I parked.

Also had a humungus hairy huntsman spider joyride under the dash/backseat (well anywhere it damn well pleased for that matter) in my current T for short time. Thought I'd be cunning and tried to use a cable tie to coax him off the car (he was initially on the outside front quarter panel) when the little barstard scuttled into the door jam. No more Mr Nice Guy when it comes to spiders :tosser: Keep a pair of chop sticks in the glove box so I can pince the little f@ckers :spoton: Once again, bombarded under the dash and the folded the rear seats down and drowned them in low irritant insecticide. Took a while for the smell to go, but I preferred that than have a spider potentially give the kids or anyone one else in the car a nasty bite.

nothing makes me jump around like a girl (no offence Tab) more than hairy big arse spiders.......

my experience is that any supermarket ant killers dont work, ive tried most in the past, you can practically hear the ants laughing at you as they stroll past.

Muffin

thank god you have spoken up. I thought that I was going nuts and got blamed for leaving food in the car. (Not the T though cause you can't eat in the T)

I park the Magna @ the train station @ Maddington and the other day nearly jumped into a serious pile of little brown ants. It had only been there for a day and absolutley crawling. After trying to vacuum and pick them up I opened up all the doors and gave a generous but not too much burst of Mortien to the interior. Not directly onto the surfaces and let it sit, next morning :cleanhouse: them up and cross the lot I saw no ants this morning. Little buggars.

I feel for you

Best of luck

The best ant produuct l have used is called "Coopex" It comes in a satchel that you mix into 4lts of water and costs about $7. Ants hatee the stuff and its safe for humans. Spray it on your floormats front and back and on your dash and the bastards will soon be gone.

HA HA HA HA! That's so funny. I have those little bastards in my car too. I don't wanna squish em though coz I can't be bothered cleaning their bodies outta my dash and seats.

BE ONE WITH THE ANTS! GAIN THEIR TRUST! Then, one at a time lead them away and KILL THEM! :spoton:

mMMMm Ant soup.
