I am possibly going to be driving a new (used) XR6T home from the Gold Coast to Cairns, is it a good idea to use a car bra on these things? Or does it hinder airflow to the intercooler?

Do they leave rub marks on the paint?

Other option is put 5 coats of silicone based polish on the front, buy headlight/bonnet/fog light protectors?

A cheap way of doing it is blue painters tape, Just cover the front clip, the leading edge of the bonnet and mirrors.

Looks a bit strange but it works well.

Couple of lads taking it to the extreme.

Great story.

But back on topic. I used a bra on my last 2 T's with no adverse affects however you will need to buy some plastic headlight covers, if you don't the bra will scratch the plastic headlights. (you should have fog light covers but that's another story)

Just make sure the front of the car is super clean before putting the bra on.

Just give it a good wash on the front before you leave and a wash soon as you get there to get the bugs off.

It will be finethat way I reckon.

If you go the car bra option make sure your car is SPOTLESS before you put it on as if there is the slightest bit of grit under the car bra then after 20 hours of driving with the bra rubbing it will scratch your paint big time.

Ive used a car bra for years and I havent got a mark on the front. I always wax the front end before installing, to make sure it is prisine clean, and give the paint a bit of protection.
