Building on from this (not meaning to hijack any threads)

You guys think the mechanical guages are really that dangerous? ie; oil leak out through the dash ??

I had a mini race car years ago, and an escort race car - I was staying out of town racing the escort - so my dad borrowed the mini to come and visit (it was road registered), turned up in the middle of the night.. The whole engine bay, and front half of the inside of the car (no carpet thankfully) covered in oil.

The oil pressure line had burst (it did run very high pressure) and spewed oil everywhere. He was in the middle of nowhere with no tools - so had to drive to a garage to pinch off the line. He used heaps of oil in a very short time - and it made a huge mess.

That is the only time I have heard of one rupturing - but...

Boost - doesnt matter if it leaks really, water - probably be ok, but again - pretty messy if it all goes wrong.

The Tripods are around $150 I think,

The Gauges - if you get Auto Metre Cobalts around $250 each?

I wouldnt look back from the Tripod (I have one) much better than the SS inductions one. Dont buy cheap gauges either.

The silver surrounds on the Auto Metres are standard - just happen to match the falcon quite well.

There will be a heap of auto gauge gauges arriving in the country this week custom made with blue faces, fully electric, fits perfect into the tripod and at around $100 each.

that's what ill be using. There is a thread somewhere about them. Scott will be selling them.

Cheers

Hmmm they certainly do look nice!

Do all the boost ones they have go up to 30 PSI though? Are there autometer ones that only go up to say 20 PSI (I guess it would give you a better reading of the boost level your running?).

Cheers.

Does the pole position tripod come with the silver rings at the front of the guages like that? or did you have to paint them (to match the speedo and tacho dials)

the silver rings r actually on the gauges themselves that's why cobalts r so good for the XR interior! :crybaby:

Does the plastic of the pod and panel, match the genuine dash plastics well???

well the pod holder is black plastic and my dash was sort of a gun metal colour but everyone who has seen the gauges has thought they were factory you dont really notice the difference.

my boost gauge is boost/vac it goes up to 30psi I would recommend u go for the boost/vac instead of just the boost looks heaps better and u dont have 2 wait til u hit boost before the needle moves its always moving in vacuum before it hits boost just looks awesome.
