Hi Guys,

My BA manual Typhoon is currently stock, looking to start the modding with a suspension upgrade.

After reading the threads, I had this in mind:

27mm sway bar at front, no change on back.

Bilsteins all around

King Springs (stiffer but not lowered bue to steep driveway).

Neoprene bushes

Had a recommendation to use Colin from Malaga springs and shocks. When I called him he said the sway bar etc. was completely unnecessary for BA/BF unless purely a track tool and recommended coils and Bilsteins only - $1,650 (fitted).

The car does very occasional track days (next one Barbagallo 16/7!), needs to go around the odd roo and car turning infront of me against the lights (yesterday), and enjoy bends *a lot* more.

Axle tramp isn't such a big issue, as the traffic light grans prix isn't a top priority.

Do you agree with Colin's advice, and if so, does the price sound about right?

Thanks,

Rob

Fitting the 30mm front bar and 21mm rear bar to my BA ute was the single best mod i have done bar none.

I got Koni red's lovells front and my rear springs resest for a little over $1300.

Sway bars where around $300 and i fitted those myself.

cheers

Luke

If you are not going to lower it, then I would not bother with the springs I would go the Bilsteins only. The shocks will firm up the ride with out being harsh.

Sway bars are a personal thing, it depends on how you like your car to handle.

Mine has 27mm Front and 21mm rear

It has a little bit of under steer which I think is safer, but I can turn that in to power over steer with a bit of right boot.

30mm front 21mm rears would be good for a ute the added stiffness in the front would control a utes natural over steer.

Agree strongly with the above - I used to track day race a modded XJRS in the UK, which had a heavy nose, and am used to dealing with understeer (and it's fun!).

Difficult to know about the swaybar(s), I can always add them afterwards I suppose.

Does the price sound about right?

Thanks,

Rob

I got the front sway bar and love it... for the cost it was probably one of the best mods I have done

I agree with 72 as the springs are not really needed if you are staying at stock height.

I have 27/21mm on my F6 and it did make a huge difference tot he turnin to corners. Before I got the bars, the car had a wallowie floatie feeling at high speed on the turnin to the corner that made the rear feel floatie and loose. The bars gave it a better stiffer feeling on the turnin and kept the car level.

The Bilstiens are a very good choice, I have Konies as this was the only choice when I got mine done.

The front end bushes will be a mod I will do as the OEM ones are fluid filled and give unwanted movement under hard braking.

Make sure you get the ajustable Whiteline bars with the rosejoints. I need to upgrade mine to rosejointed arms as I do not like the rubber bushes.

The ajustability is also nice to have for trackwork. Takes about 15mins once you are used to it.

I am running the Bilsteins all round with King springs and new bushings all round which were fitted after I had a 27mm front sway bar fitted.

Sway bar alone makes a great difference, corners like a smaller car.

Recommended to fit 30mm sway bar with the Billsteins and that has made an amazing diference - not harsh, not hoppy or choppy but VERY flat and responsive to inputs. Leave the rear swaybar alone.

Great thanks for the info.

Pretty clear that the front sway bar is a winner, so as per original plan, minus the springs. Could anyone recommend a place near to Perth who will do the work (Bilsteins, Whiteline Swaybar, Bushes).

I don't have much confidence in asking Malaga to do the work, as they don't think it's necessary..

Finally, the price..a little under 2k for cash d'ya rekon??

Cheers,

Rob

Should be around the 1500 mark, maybe a bit cheaper
