OCTANE colour (orange)

had a minor dint repaired a while ago and was told that the colour the computer spat out when the colour code was put it, looked nothing like the colour on the car, this colour fades really bad!

apparently ford has withdrawn this colour ???

anyone with this colour had any painting done ?

So essentially to get any sort of repair done you would need the whole car resprayed, like fantasy. Ford are going to have a lot of pissed off customers if this is the case.

Faark, that's shocking.

Not sure about withdrawn though - they are still selling them.

No. Just means the painter will have to colour match the paint.

It is VERY rare for a paintcode to match the actual car colour. Even after just a month.

It's not uncommon for two identical new cars, same colour code, the have a different hue.

Interesting, makes sense as to how you see some cars which have obviously been repaired by the different colour panels ect. Lazy painters

Was getting a small ding on the guard repaired on my previous BA in Blueprint & they tried to use the same paint on a ute they were repairing on mine. Guess what ! entirely different colour. They ended up getting in a bloke to blend new paint, plus extra handfulls of metallic to brighten it up. Even then the finished job still needed more metallic particles in it & you could see the differance.

to give you an idea... the damage I had repaired was..

1 day panel work

3 days trying to match paint

it is clear that octane is a fader, but only time will tell how bad, I contacted ford 2 weeks ago asking about it, but have not yet heard a response from them.

so for any future paint work on this colour, make sure ya painter has a good eye!

Ive had my drivers side door repainted when I first picked it up from Ford. Got scratched when it came off the truck. They used "The touch up guys". No joke.... Its perfect! you would never know it had a scratch. I reckon it depends on how good the repairer! All they did was looked under the bonnet, got the code for the paint... punched it in this laptop... and bang they mixed it perfect! Took them a hour to sand down my scratch and respray it. Job very well down!

What do you mean 'like fantasy'??

Apparently Fantasy is easier to blend in than metallic colours.
