I am betting on the flexplate, I hope it is for your sake.

Pretty easy to check!

Remove the plastic cover between the sump and transmission, and see if the flexplate moves when leveraged with a screwdriver or similar.

If it's a rod, consider yourself lucky that it didn't break, as the engine can be rebuilt fairly cheaply provided nothing else is damaged.

Old thread so I thought I would jump on it. I have the same problem I put the car on the ramps today to see if I had a loose flexplate I tightened all bolts none of them were loose. Im hopeing its not a rod I have 285rwkw 04 BA could it be the Torque converter? and is it okay to drive it to the Auto place or should I tow it. Anyhelp plz.

You only tightened the flexplate to converter bolts, the ones that come loose are the flexplate to crank bolts and you need to remove the gearbox to do so.

Sounds like a flexplate or bolts gone, mine did the same thing.. sounded terrible driving down the return road!
