Tell me how the :spoton: this will help? Now we will have trucks in all 3 lanes and you run the risk of a $182 fine if you go to pass the pricks.

Our Premier is such a Fukwit

Fukwit Bracks

Premier Steve Bracks has announced that cars will no longer be able to change lanes in the Burnley and Domain tunnels in the wake of last month's fiery pile-up in which three people died.

"After the Burnley Tunnel accident, we sought advice from police and VicRoads . . . the advice we received was very clear," Mr Bracks said.

"The way people drive in the tunnel needs to change. The biggest risk drivers currently take is weaving through traffic and making unnecessary lane changes."

Within the next 12 months Mr Bracks has pledged to ban lane changes in the tunnels, with a loss of three demerit points and a fine of $182.

Other changes to the tunnels will include:

▪ Installation of emergency barriers at tunnel entrances to stop drivers entering after a serious accident has occurred

▪ Lowering the speed limit on the approach to the Burnley tunnel from 100 km/h to 80 km/h to the West Gate bridge, to give drivers more time to correct their lane

▪ Expanding use of variable speed signs on the approaches to tunnels to speed

▪ Re-drafting learner-driver handbooks to include a section on safe driving in tunnels

Mr Bracks said he was happy to "start the process" immediately.

He said he did thought truck-only lanes would not have been appropriate.

"It would not have been practical and achievable."

Well speed cameras are obviously not bringing in enough revenue, so the Brack's engine had to think up another scheme to get some more money out of the motorists

Please somebody put this ars*h*le out of parliament

and what about all the people driving at 70 km/h just to be sure they are under the speed limit? so now you'll just have to sit behind them until the tunnel ends, even if there are lanes clear either side? :gfight:

lets just make the whole state 50km/h except infront of schools where its 10km/h, put a red light/speed camera on every intersection, convert every police officer into a mobile speed camera carrying unit, replacing gun with radar gun.

Then the victorian goverment would have so much money we could make victoria the new dubai!
