I am picking up my Phantom XR6 on wednseday. I have intentions of stopping on the way home into autobarn or the like and getting the meguiar's stuff I have heard so much about. The attached web sit has alot of ideas but apart from a few products doesn't appear to like the meguiar's stuff. More the mothers stuff. Anyone used both and prefer one or the other. The main thing I want is to not have any swirls in the paint.

So far I was thinking of getting the following

Gold Class Wash

Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner

Gold Class Wax.

Help!

Heres the web site. It has handy stuff but alot is common sence

harasn, not a bad pick, basically what I use. Only prob I found with Maguires on my Royal Blue EL was the wax dries white so you need to go back to the car after about an hour and wipe it out of joins, etc. I found a pure bristle artists brush (NOT synthetic bristle, will scratch the paintwork) cleans the cracks out real easy, especially around the badges, put a it of insulation tape around the metal ferrul at the base of the bristles to prevent the ferrul scratching the paintwork.

Also keep it off the black plastic , I 'paint' on Maguires Vinyl & Rubber protectant before I wax the car, then buff the protectant off after polishing the car. If you find some swirling after awhile they make a product called 'Swirl Reducer' have never had to use it but if your fussier than me you might want to try it.

Get yourself some Edurance protectant for the tyres.

No Smear Glass Cleaner, ideal for tinted windows, no ammonia.

For the interior the Cloth and Trim Cleaner is great.

And for a good touch up between polishes Quik Detailer is a good product.

Hint: after you wash the car if you have got a vac/blower, ust the blower to blast the water out of the door handles, cracks and even off the panels then go over with chamois, stuff the weird looks from family, friends and neighbours, cuts down on cleaning time, even blow the water off the engine bay. Make sure you give a good blast away from the car first or you might be washing it again and noticing some sand blasting :D

If you have'nt got a blower use a hair drier (on low heat) to get the water out of the cracks and door handles.

No, I don't work for Maguires (work in a Power Station) but have used their products for about 6 years and am happy with the results.

Hope this is of some help.

Its essential to use the Meguirs microfibre polishing cloth. You can get em at K Mart. They take the polish off better than any cloth and you can was them out. They are great along with the rest of their products.

Never tried it Dallas (might but now). Have found normal towelling cloth very good. Buy a couple of cheap ones from K-Mart and cut them up into quarters, pays to chuck them in the washing machine first to soften them and get rid of the fluff.

I use the Maguiers Gold Class wash and find it bring the car up very shiny. I usually wait until K-Mart has a 15% off storewide sale and buy it then. Got to get in early though 'cause it seems a lot of other people have the same idea!

I use maguirs on my car. the canuba (sp?) wax, gold class wash, quick detail, the wash mit, the interior cleaner... everything.!!

A friend of mine gave me some mothers to use once, and the only thing I liked about it was the smell (it smells like lollies). Too bad that it was silicone based - so as soon as the car got outside it was covered in dust!! Ask anyone who was at the display at wakefield last year - my car had so much dust on it, everyone thought it was brown. All the other cars didnt have the dust stick to the car - it just blew away. So if you want a nice shiny car that only stays inside - use mothers. If you want a car you can take outside - use maguirs.

Ive found that the meguairs stuff isnt that good. It is really great looking for about 2 weeks, or untill you wash it the next time, then it goes all dull and un-polished looking.

I have spoken to a couple of pro detailers about it, and they get the same results
