Posted 02/02/07 10:00 PM Author Posted 02/02/07 10:00 PM Just got back from a 1hr ride, so I am definatley keen to get the rest off.←What you were getting the speed wobbles having your feet up on the sissy bar...... You'll have more padding for the landing's if you keep it on..... ←Bugger off you, go and walk the dog or ban someone, do something useful! I discovered that with less weight, you hit the ground a little softer and it takes a nanosecond longer, so I can put my hands out in front of me! Seriously though, I am off to Emerald today to get my weeks supply of fruit and Veg and then I'll go for another ride. I can't get enough asparagus at the moment, love it, but FMD the urine has an awful smell. Asparajuicic acid they call it, and it smells worth than cat piss! And Jimmy I may well take you up on your offer for some free advice.

Just by getting your blood tested by the likes of Sureslim they will give you a diet to follow and it is amazing how much weight you can actually loose by banning food groups you would have thought were healthy. We all handle various toxins, sugar levels etc differently and by knowing what your body is doing and what it can / cant handle you are half way there. Add a cardio n weight fitness program and you have the tools for success. Also mind over matter, get you mind to focus on one week only and what you want to loose in that week. Whether it be 1 or 2kgs. Then set yourself up with 6 small meals evenly spread throughout the day. Start with your biggest meal of the day - breakfast. Bowl of low carb cereal (Vita brits), slice or two of toast (no spread) two fruits, a cup of youghurt and alternate cereal with 2/3 eggwhites (toss the yolk or give it to a pet). Then midmorning a cup of yoghurt or fruit, lunch a salad with tuna/chicken (no bread), mid afternoon a cup of yoghurt or fruit or small tuna salad and dinner no later than 7pm a small piece of fish/chicken/meat with a nice salad serve. Finish up with a few serves of fruit approx 9pm and you are done for the day.It is also a good idea to do your exercise in the morning b4 breakfast. At that time you will gain more than at the end of the day when your body is fulll of energy to burn. Maybe a walk after dinner to assist burning it off.Keep your mind on the job, have a photo of what you looked like at your peak weight to remind you where you do not want to go again. Goodluck

Get the PS3 model, it beeps at you when you are at 85% of your MHR. It pushes you to work harder. They are a great motivator. I also use my MP3 player, you are too busy listening to music than worrying about pain!I cycle about 35klms (1 - 1.5 hours) every 2 - 3 days, and my average heart rate is usually about 160 - 165. They are great, you can use them for any other exercise as well, I use mine for squash and running too.Cost me about $120.

Goodluck←some good points there, but I wouldn't be tossing the yolk away, it's the best part from a strict weight loss diet then yeah perhaps stick to egg whites, but that's in extreme cases. The average person can eat a relatively normal diet and not be too strict and still get great weight loss results with regular exercise. One thing to keep in mind; a persons metabolism will speed up after exercise, particularly weight training. Keeping in mind that most people have dinner as their biggest meal, it's my opinion that the average person is better off training in the afternoon 1-2hrs before dinner. Once dinner is consumed the body's metabolism will still be burning the calories faster and using the food/nutrients more effectively. The main concern with training in the morning, from a muscle building aspect, is the lack of carbs/protein and food during the night, meaning the muscles are already in a depleted state. A brisk walk or jog in the morning is fine, but personally I wouldn't be lifting weights until usually mid morning when I've given my body a chance to get some food into it. I do remember reading in one of my books that the male does produce most of its testosterone around mid morning too, another good reason to do resistance training then... wish I could find where I read that, I hope I didn't dream it
mickq Member 740 Member For: 23y 5m 19d Posted 03/02/07 07:39 AM Posted 03/02/07 07:39 AM (edited) I tend to get the best results doing weights at around 2pm. Not sure why. Sometimes that's after lunch, sometimes before. (Depends on what I am doing that day). But I find that I am 100% awake, I have been active for a while so not weary at all, I can lift more, and end up putting on more muscle. In relation to weight loss, I read an interesting thing a while back which hit the news recently as its a variation on a well known technique. When doing aerobic things like running, bikes etc, varying your speeds can make a huge difference, rather than just going at a steady pace. This has been known for ages and is often called interval training, with techniques like pyramids, fartlek etc taking advantage. Recently a ton of research was done to try to find the best way to do it to lose weight. Much to their surprise, they found one combination resulted in TWICE as much fat burn off that any other: 8 seconds of hard pace, then 12 seconds slow. Just keep repeating 8 fast 12 slow 8 fast 12 slow. I plan on trying it soon with jogging, riding etc. The experiments results were very interesting - it certainly seems to be much more effective than steady training or other interval training. Typically interval training involves intervals that are a fair bit longer than just 8 and 12 seconds. Edited 03/02/07 07:40 AM by mickq

A lot of fitness is trial and error and works differently for different people. In theory high intensity training at short bursts should burn more fat then at a steady rate. Bursts of power require a lot of energy, where as steady pace running is easy to get that motion of movement and continue it on. Obviously depending on peoples goals and needs, will depend what type of training you undertake.
