Can any one advise me as to whether a stock BF XR6T 6 Speed Auto should be able to drop rubber from a standing start with or without Traction Conrol. Had a BA XR8 Auto that wouldn't do it nor will the Turbo I have now. Is there some thing in the ECU that restricts the initial power or is it that it puts the power down so well. I had a 340 Valiant Auto years ago that would howl like a Banchee off the mark. I notice on initial take off that there is a slight lag before the Turbo comes on boost, but you would think with the power available there would still be enough to skip rubber. I'm no Hoon but I think some of the older V8's & 6's seem to have more get up & go off the mark. Some one mentioned on the side that it may be the Actuator but this shouldn't be with a new car, so hence the question from others as to whether theirs does. The funny part is that if your doing about 15k's & you plant it the car will drop back to 1st & skip rubber, so it's got me frigged. The reason I ask is that you see burnout marks every where, but it's obvious their not from standard XR6T or Xr8's. Some will say, but it's got a LSD, but when I look back, I remember the FORD GTHO's off the mark, you couldnt see them from smoke ! :glad:

The independant rear end on these things hold them to the ground pretty good, hence giving them quick off the line times.

Even with edit, my car does not light up by flooring it until it gets to about 20-30kph when boost comes on strong in 1st, then it starts to spin(depending on road surface).

Its never gonna happen with traction control on (stock)

All you need, is to hold a little brake on until you get to about 2000rpm, from there on you can start frying your rubber as much as you like. :glad:

If I stomp on my throttle from a standstill on decent tar road, my F6 will NOT break traction. The 1st-2nd change used to chirp, but the new Advan v103 rubber has put a stop to that.

So I expect a normal T will also not break traction.

Remember these cars do not get onto song untill after 2,000rpm.

If you stall up either the T or F6 you will get your desired wheelspin :glad:

Thanks Fella's ! I was begining to think that maybe I had bought a couple of lemons. My intention is not to make a habit of breaking traction, but to asertain as to why it wouldn't like cars that I had before. When you think about it when kicking back to 1st at about 15 k's you would probably be sitting around the 2000rpm & the Turbo would be comming on boost, thus causing the tyres to chirp. :glad:

Was talking to Ian "GOLDIE" the other day & he seems to think that the 6 speed Auto takes off in 2nd unless you hit a "Detent" as you put your foot down a little. Went home & tried the accellerator, but can't feel any thing apart from the Kickdown on the floor. Anyone know any more about this aspect ?

These things are fairly dumbed-down with torque tags as well to protect the driveline.

Utes are fairly happy in the rear end though when there's even the slightest hint of moisture. For some reason people get a bit worried when you start sliding sideways when the light goes green. :glad:

The detent is there to force a kick-down while you’re moving, or change in to ‘angry mode’ as I like to think of it. In normal auto mode it will ordinarily start off in second, but if you apply more than about ¼ throttle you can feel it drop back to first.

If using the manual shift whenever you come to a stop it will only drop back to 2nd, if you want 1st then you have to manually select it.
