Replacing the rear speakers with expensive ones is a waste of time and money I am afraid. The way Ford has designed the system is strange. It favours the front speakers heavily. I put Eclipse 6.5 inch 2 ways into my doors and the difference was amazing. I then replaced the rear Ford speakers with the Eclipses and put the original Ford speakers back in the doors. While there was a little improvement, the front speakers still dominated. If you fade your sound 100% to the rear you will know what I mean. The rear speakers seem to only be there for a little background noise and nothing else. The front speakers seem to do all the work as well as the sub woofer.

I now have the Eclipses back in the doors and some Pioneer 6 inch's in the rear shelf and I couldnt be more happy. A major improvement over the stock system for sure. From my experience I think the thing to do would be fork out some money for some high quality door speakers rather than the rears.

ford concerntrating on the front end kinda makes sense. when I used to compete in iasca (car stereo comps), they always had the opinion that your car should copy a concert hall. all the music comes from the front, with the rear used for fill only.

you never went to a concert and turned your back to the band, unless you got drunk and fell over!!!

People wax lyrical about this brand of speaker wire or that brand of RCA connection really it only starts to make sense for Ultra High Quality playback(Like a Porsche with something around a 30000 Sound System in Motor Mag a couple of months ago)With the Ford systems,especially considering the negligable upgrade ability of the Head Unit it does seem to be a bit of a waste of time.Just use whateever wire the speakers come with.

Remove the small disk in the centre of the door release handle with a small flat screw driver

Remove the L shaped centre from the door handle using a small flat screw driver

Remove the two round plugs from the bottom edge of the door using small flat screw driver

Then remove the 7 screws

1 in door release handle

2 in door handle

2 on bottom edge of door

1 on inner edge of door

1 on outer edge of door

Then slide the door release handle towards the rear of the car, about .5cm and it will pop off

Then just pull the door trim off ...

Cam - Well I am extremely happy with my Eclipses at the moment. After I finish sound proofing the doors they should be even better.

Just a note for you guys trying to get the rear speaker grills off, I went to visit my car when it was in pre-delivery before I picked it up, they were putting tint on the windows. Anyways they had the entire parcel tray cover out in one piece, speaker grills and all.

Can you please advise cost of speakers and where they can be purchased ?

I'm a little disappointed with the bass on the speakers especially when playing songs like AC/DC Hells Bells (showing both age and musical tastes in 1 hit).
