September 21, 200620 yr Hi guys, couple of Questions on Walbro install.Firstly I picked up the wrong / different pump to what most have used it's a GSS-342, will this be usable / modifiable to suit?Secondly I read a couple of posts cant find again(tried search feature bout as useful as the ford parts guy below) about having to use new fuel line as you may need to cut the orginal hose making it too short for the new pump and remember reading that you can buy a kit from FORD with pre cut hose the right lenght and type etc.Well I rang 2 dealers today asking for fuel pump hose kit and was told by the first "Never heard of it" and fobbed off to service guys who knew nuthing, then the second dealer wanted to put me thru to the parts specalist at the fisrt dealer no luck there, obiously! So much appreceation if some has an actual FORD P/N for this kit, that I can give to the guy whos job it is to look up supposed part numbers Thanks
September 21, 200620 yr the guys in vermont ford gave me the part number twice. once when I wanted a hose and the other time when someone told me that you couldnt buy the hose seperate.I dont have it written down anymore, but just give the guys in the vermont dealership a call and see for yourself.Just tell them its the short hose that goes from the fuel pump housing to the top of the fuel pump.oh and there are 2 part numbers, one for the high pressure side and one for the return. the high pressure side is $29 retail.
September 21, 200620 yr Author Cheers Shock will give em a call in morning.Anyone know the differences in the gss-341 and gss-342 are the pumps the same just different pickups or will I need to return the 342??Thanks
September 22, 200620 yr mate I am running the gss-342. I put a thread up here asking which one and I was told that it wa sthe right one not the 341. but iether way the 342 fits and works perfect
September 22, 200620 yr The difference is the inlet and outlet (top and bottom) of the pump are not offset like the 341. When installing it make sure the filter sock is not crushed, which is the tricky bit with the 342. Call Nick at XTC, he has some different filters that go in no problems.I will be doing this on Saturday. My second stock fuel pump has sh*t itself, the relief valve is forced open and the bugger isn't holding fuel in the rail and is a bitch to start after sitting for more than 5 minutes. Atleast fuel supply is taken care of now though.
September 22, 200620 yr Which pump is better to get... The Bosch 044 (330 litres/hr) or the Walbro GS-342 (255litres/hr) ?The Walbro is only rated @ 500hp which doesn't seem enough if you have any more than 280rwkw(in other words... a Wog tune ). Hey ENVY-T, what's Nick recomended for your replacement pump?
September 22, 200620 yr Ladies ladies ladies.Boil your wifes kettle, pour over hose, slip off. Get a new hose clamp, and clamp factory hose to new pump.Oh, the 294 Walbro flows more ( 270/hr ) and is a perfect fit with the supplied filter. Just have to use the wiring harness plug that is optional.. Standard old rubber hose will perish in fuel, gates fuel hose is the only one to use if you have to, or maybe some teflon hose. The 294 comes with a small piece of hose, but it aint big enuf. SOMEONE make a sticky for Walbro fuel pump mods.
September 22, 200620 yr Here are the part numbers!!Fuel supply (high pressure) FO BA 9E964 AFuel return (low pressure) FO BA 9E965A And F6 boy, the kettle trick doesn't work all the time. And pumped, he has given me a Walbro GS-342And the Ford fuel line cost, High pressure- $22.57Low pressure- $20.27
