90,000 Km Service

Hey guys, so im about to hit the big 90,000 service.

I have only got this car in the past few months.

I love it, and yes got it at a steal, she goes great, and cant fault it.

(brother in law ex lease)

My question is I have never had a "new"ish car and never done the book service thing.

How much should I expect to pay?

and should I buy my own oil? parts etc? before I turn up?

Any tips would be great, I appreciate your help!

Are you planning to take it to Ford?

It can work out a bit cheaper supplying your own materials, but more importantly, shop around if your budget conscience, as prices do vary...

DON"T take it to ford. I'd rather let a pack of trained monkeys work on my car...

Shop around for a reputable mechanic in your area and get them to service it...

Ahh, the ole 90's. That was 55,000km ago for me, lol.

Get them to check for leaks. Front/Rear main seal. Maybe even get all your suspension, shocks, bushes, balljoints checked out for wear also. If you're planning mods, a fuel pump change might be good insurance.

Called Binks Ford today to book in for service, guy said the starting price for the 90,000k service is $457 bucks.

He said it was a "big" one but couldnt tell me what it would consist of.

Is the price right? and anyone know the checklist of stuff they will do?

Im also interested, I just went over 90,000kms and called Westpoint Ford to price the service. They quoted $350, which is a bit of a price difference. A friend who used to be a Ford mechanic claims that they could try to hit me up for as much as $650 depending on what they need to do?

90,000km service consists of the usual engine oil and filter change, but also add a fuel filter and air filter change. Then the vehicle check over! The westpoint price sounds right as I was probably the one who quoted you! haha! How binks can charge that much more I do not know unless they do a handbrake adjustment as part of the service?

With 90km on the clock, your car is probbly a few years old. Brake fluid should be replaced at 2 years old as it draws in moisture and becomes useless. Coolant should be replaced at 3 years also. But we will test all of that for you! See you when you book in!

howdy harasn, haven't seen you round for a long time...

If you are getting the brake fluid replace, go bet some dot 5 the cr@p ford uses can boil after a hard drive, leaving you with no brakes.

Lots of stuff been happening mate! Changing jobs and all sorts! Didn't think anyone would remember me! haha!

Can't say we have to many customers that have boiled the brake fluid, but hey its worth the extra money for the good stuff! Doesn't last as long though from memory!
