Removing Rear Speaker Grilles

Featured Replies

#1

Hi there Guys/Gals, I am just about to upgrade my rear speakers (ba mk11 xr6t). Does anyone know how to remove the speakers grilles please.

The grilles are part of the parcel shelf cover, seperate to the actual speakers themselves. I think you need a Torx bit to undo the speakers.

They clip into the rear parcel shelf trimming. just get your finger under an edge, and lift. It'll take a bit of force.

Or you could pop off the whole parcel shelf cover... several pain in the arse clips holding it down and it will just come right off. I tried pulling on the grilles and they didnt come off easily, felt like I was gonna break something.

Does anyone know where I can get another grille in the same shape as the factory ones? I want to put one smack bang in the middle to open up a port for some bass... a round one wont fit due to the stop light hump.

I think the premium sound shelf cover would look better

Thanks guys, better to be safe and ask than do some damage. The factory speakers leave a lot to be desired, I have gon for some Polk audio MMC570 which should pop straight in???

I had the same problem but 'curiousity killed the cat' well not in my case, I just used a small flat bladed screwdriver and popped it up. Im putting all round 5x7 Alpine speakers in mine along with my CDA9813 Alpine head unit, 400watt 4 channel kicker amp. Should sound sweet. :spoton: And maybe one of my 12' 400watt Kicker subs.......
