Evening,

Just a quick update on the XC, the new 378cu in engine has run in adequately, so we decided to chuck it on the dyno @ Gas Tune, to see what sort of pressures the blower was putting out, AFR's etc.

I was initially concerned that the supercharger may have been under geared, as it was extremely doughy down low, ie under 2500rpm with no pick up.

I think I was a tad wrong.

Myself and Kirsty took the big girl for a run through the streets of Tuggers on Friday night, and I decided to open it up for the first time. It definately felt very strong, and was starting to pressurise the manifold with about 8 - 9 psi. I definately learnt something that night, you gotta spin these centrifugal blowers up to make them go!

Anyway, on the dyno this morning. Gas Tune's dyno is the old school type, where you run it to say 3000rpm, load it and see what happens. Well we did this, and spun it initially to 4000rpm, it maxxed out the dyno on its first run, pulling 400 hp at the wheels, at only 10psi.

Considering the engine has been built to spin to 6000rpm, 8:1 comp ratio, the blower can supply 28psi, and the option to upgrade to a V4 XX trim (moving 1850CFM), I am very much looking forward to the next couple of months when we start to really open her up.

Stay tuned for more breakages! Cause if youre not breaking bits, youre not trying hard enough! :spoton:

My kids like "Micks noisy car".

But what would they know they are only 2 and 3 years old. :msm:

Probably a lot more than Mick :pinch:

Good stuff though Michelle - do you have a target in sight or is it a case of keep going till you get bored?

lol

Yeah, I am now seriously contemplating upgrading the V3 J trim to the V4 XX, which should net us 800hp at the wheels @ 6000rpm, which roughly means the engine makes 1000hp. That would be nice. :spoton: Ill have to run that idea past Alex's kids first though!
