You alter pinion/driveshaft/gearbox angle when you lower and that's the problem, NOT the springs. Theres a bit of stuff about this on the net. Alot of cars suffer this when you lower but I cant understand why some are worse than others.

Why would lowering an IRS cars back end cause a change in pinion/driveshaft/gearbox angle? The diff doesnt move.... :sofa: Doc's car is a sedan not a ute... :spoton:

 the axle drive shafts do change but not the pinions ect

Hi Scotty.

Smooth as a babies bum it is, but now the bloody thing is really tight and notchy through 1st and 2nd :fool: . It has a mind of its own this car. Good to be running smooth though. Definately WAS the spring height :pinch:

Ford have a fix for this in their workshop manual. Has to do with the pinion angle when under load. Variants of 1degree are said to be enough to cause the vibration. Shims are produced to align the problem.

Adrian its in your manual under Section 205-01 Driveshaft.

We could check it out ourselves if we had the required inclinometer.

GOT THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY XR6T AND GUESS WHAT? I'VE GOT PEDDERS. BOTH Q FORD AND C N J MOTORSPORT SUGGESTED THE LOWERED SUSPENSION WAS THE CAUSE. MAYBE IT IS THE DIFFERENT ANGLE OF THE TAILSHAFT OR SIMPLY THE REAR SPRINGS. I'M GOING TO CHANGE THE SPRINGS AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. IT SEEMS LIKE THE CHEAPEST OPTION
