Yeh valve springs are an issue, but I have heard that with an exhaust change this can be almost ironed out completely...

In your case then, just get a tune and intercooler. maybe a cat, but no real need imo.

If you have the generic tune, then maybe the temp charge tables need changing. Heat soak with these in there factory setting caused me to loose 30rwkw on back to back runs.

again, tyres will kill the next weekest link, as Mark said. remember I launched hard, tyres hooked up and clutch spat it. You are thinking of doing tyres and clutch.....................so........................

BANG.

hehe..

Some ppl will tell you what they think you need to hear in order to get a sale.. Some mods make good money for ppl, so they'll try and sell it.

I aint here to sell you something, so I'll tell you what I think, hopefully saving you some coin, and heartache..

Take it from me, whilst a freer flowing exhaust will help it won't stop the stock springs from inevitably failing over time.

Regardless of whether you are happy with the current power levels, I would think it's the inevitable want for more low-mid range grunt that is going to cause you issues with your T5.

Do the research to establish just what levels of power, boost and torque kills the T5 and then decide whether you are going to be happy the outcome.

............aaaaahhh the dilemmas of modding

Thanks, trust me it is helpful

What is the opinion of everyone on the Nizpro plenum and cooler setup? I dislike the stock setup out of principal (I believe you shouldn't adopt an NA setup to produce a turbo setup) but onviously I can get the power I want with less mods. Will it save me down the track or what?

geezus, what u tryin to do???????

Unless your goin to pull 350rwkw+ ( at a minimum) the nizzer kit is wasted money.

Yeah it's good, but not worth the outlay if you're not utilising it to it's full potential.

It's like building a forged bottom end for 300rwkw. It's going to be good, but spend it on something that will give good BFYB.

The more midrange torque you have, the more your gearbox will exit stage left.

Peak power won't kill your box, but something like a wogtune or Simons will chew it to bits!!!!!!

Just get Simon to load up the bottom end for you in a tune. His 260rwkw will 'feel' quicker than your current generic tune, and might go someway to satisfy your needs.

Hehe ok Jason, sounds good :spoton: I'll PM you shortly...

Thanks for the advice F6... I'll have a chat to simon and see what he can do to preserve my box. The nizpro kit was a bit of a pie in the sky, but damn it just looks so good it makes me want one even if it was stock power levels!! :spoton:

Tops, okay... so far I have this on the cards...

Clutch (first) and flywheel

Injectors, intercooler, cat, tune to suit conservation of teeth (next)

Centre muffler + twin tips........ eventually

Tyres

Sell body parts for gearbox  (is there anything in the rules for the market section about body parts??)

Shame you have the 5-speed. If you had a 6-speed manual I'd say you could get close to 330 to 350rwkw. Parts needed:

1. Bigger front mount intercooler. You can shop around and pickup a good 2nd hand unit for $500

2. Bosch 968 injectors. $600 new from injectors online.

3. Mal Wood Auto stage 4 clutch kit including semi metallic clutch plate, pressure plate and lightened flywheel $1600

4. Exhaust including 3.5" dump and twin 3" cats $2500-$3000. Taking the cats out of the sum would probably save you close to $750.

5. Custom tune (ask nicely and some will do it for a couple of beers :crybaby: + dyno charges).

6. Valve springs $850 incl fitting and parts.

The Nizpro kit is not needed for power under 350rwkw.

Again, shame you have a 5-speed. Your first performance mod would be to upgrade to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed auto.
