My clutch is on its last legs, so that is the first priority, but if I got one bit at a time I would need a re-tune after each mod. I'm thinking if I get the cash up front I can do what I need to do straight up and get it all tuned in at the same time. What's your thoughts?? Leave it the hell alone or $3k will turn into $10k and you shoulda just traded up to a MKII 6spd..My mates old T5 went a month after 273rwkw was tuned into it. That was JUST INJECTORS and CAI. you have been suitably warned. waiting now for the 'I told you so reply' in a while.. markxr6t Member 476 Member For: 20y 6m 19d Location: Perth WA Posted 18/05/06 04:00 AM Share Posted 18/05/06 04:00 AM Me being the conservative type that I am, feel that with the added low down torque that your injectors, cooler and cat will allow, combined with the extra clamp with your new clutch, that you'll really be exposing the weakness of your T5. You're probably the fastest manual gear changer I've seen, which is great for driving quick and very hard on your T5 with the instantaneous torque applied. You can chirp it in 3rd with your T5 - with grippier tyres and a heavy duty clutch your "chirp" will be happenning in the teeth of your gearbox. This is why I'm not going down the mod path and am just running the 8psi tune in my car from here on. As soon as BF autos drop under $30k, I'll upgrade! Therefore, if you're going to mod your car, I'd also look for a second hand Ford OEM T56 for about $3k or at least budget for it when your T5 goes.Just my overcautious opinion based on us having very similar cars. My gearbox is happy with the current power lever, so am I, so I'm not looking to get much of a gain. I want it to be tuned reliably, with no chance of leaning out, reduce heat soak, have good response especially low down and I want it to keep the smile on my face. I see what you are saying especially the fact I have a T5, but the clutch held well for a while and it didnt have any effect on it. I have always been quite unforgiving on it as I reckon I can change gears pretty quick.I'm also considering the Nizpro setup... I'm not the only one with a T5 that is holding power well too. Some might look at what I would like to do and thing... WHY? I'm not chasing numbers so why mess with the setup? Well, for those reasons above I guess it's just something I want to get done, and to get it all done at the same time means I only need to get it retuned once.Maybe I should get the clutch done first and see how the box holds up before changing other things?
