HI f6 ute change gaers what do u mean flat change or  somthing? rubber what width? As for 3.6 if you did do that time your d man hat off to ya,,,how many rwkw are u running?& dont think I was having a go at u in my past post it was just soooo hard to get into 4.96 with no wheel spin at all.BB cheers

Nah, didn't think you were having a go at all..

Anyway, tyres are 245/45 18"...

No flat changing, but change at 4000rpm into 2nd and 4300 rpm into the 3rd.

Quick question, do you hold 2nd gear to 100kph?. That's bad if you do. Too high in the revs..

People think one less gearchange is quicker, and when you read all the Motor/Wheels tests, they say how 2nd gear is tall enough to get to 100kph. Completely wrong from a fast time point of view.

Change into 3rd at around 80kph and tell me how you do.

Power, 300rwkw. With the old tyres, I could only manage 4.5 seconds because of wheelspin. Now, 4.5 is a slow time.

Going to try that on the way home in about 5 minutes

How did u go??

Have you got a measuring device?? The bummometer lies when you drive it like this.

Reason being, when you over-rev the car looses so much power up top, that when you change up into the taller gearing ( next gear ), it wallops you back into the torque curve. This fools your body into thinking it's going fast. Same as a peaky tune.

Again, what 'feels' fast to your bummometer sometimes isn't.

F6 UTE I understand what your saying change 1st @ 4000 rpm & then 2nd @ 4300rpm if this is true its should give you better 1/4 mile times as well,,, ill try it tonight when its cooler & post back & take my hat off to ya,,or call you a pioneer in this subject at least on this forum. BB

Another guy on the forum said his f6 ute done it in 3.6 I find this very hard to belive,,4.96 was not easy with street rubber.BB :sleepystuff:

BB, I could never do a 3.6 on stock tyres. I mentioned I have different tyres..

:)

Did you change gears as I mentioned??

F6 ute tryed tonight no luck,,dont forget doing this with only 215 rwkw best of 6.10 went back to my way 5.01 5.20 all the time.Ill try it again with mods back on,,all still on stock F6 rubber.BB cheers

Bugger.

Maybe with stock power, the change points will have to rise a few hundred rpm. Maybe 4500 to 2nd gear, then 4600 rpm to 3rd and 4th..

Going over 5000rpm though is a waste..

See what happens with the mods on, and get some tyres under it that aren't as bad as the Dunlops..

Mine was only stock for 1500k's, so I didn't get too much into comparing stock times to mine now.

Drove exactly as you explained above and can defiantely feel more continuous positive acceleration (if that makes sense) rather than hitting moments generally lacking in maximum torque..

Thanks F6 for the tip mate..

I found in the Auto that chaning at or near 5,000 rpm feels faster than taking it to redline.

I figure with the 6sp auto, I will let the torque do the work, so its better to keep it in the sweet spot.

Try what F6 Ute has explained and let us know what you think in the auto..

Definately feel better in the manual

I never really go over 5000rpm either. Haven't done any G-tech 0-100 times (got the RR Pro), but when I did a couple 1/4 shots, I couldn't get under 14.0 at all to due to bloody wheel spin.
